Giannis Gagaloudis
Ioannis "Gaga" Gagaloudis (alternate spellings: Yannis, Giannis, Gagaloudes, Gkagkaloudis) (; born August 22, 1978) is a Greek professional basketball player for Esperos Kallitheas B.C. of the Greek B Basket League. He is 1.92 m (6 ft 3 in) tall and 86 kg (190 lbs.) in weight. Born in Athens, Greece, he can play at both the point guard and shooting guard positions. Professional career Greece Born in Kypseli, Athens in 1978, Gagaloudis started his career with Palaio Faliro. In 1999, he moved to the Greek top-tier level GBL team Dafni, where he stayed for two seasons. Gagaloudis won the 2003 FIBA EuroCup Challenge with Aris, and a Greek Basket League championship with Panathinaikos, in 2004. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Generally, point guards are expected to be proficient in passing the ball and being able to get Assist (basketball), assists to teammates. In team sports, a most valuable player (MVP) award is an honor typically bestowed upon an individual (or individuals, in the instance of a tie) whose individual performance is the greatest in an entire league, for a particular competition, or on a specific team. FIBA EuroCup Challenge
The FIBA EuroCup Challenge was the 4th-tier level transnational professional continental club basketball competition in Europe, organised by FIBA Europe. However, it was Europe's 3rd-tier level club basketball competition in its inaugural 2002–03 season. The competition was founded in 2003, following a conflict between FIBA Europe and ULEB during the 2001–02 season, as an attempt by FIBA to expand their secondary tournament held during the previous season, the FIBA Europe Regional Challenge Cup, by merging it with the FIBA Europe Champions Cup. Esperos (in ) is a sports club in Kallithea (within greater Athens, Greece), founded in 1943 during the Nazi occupation of the country (1941–44). History Started as a football club and participated during World War II in the games organised by the "Union of Greek Athletes" (founded by Gregoris Lambrakis) seeking finance in order to fund public messes for the starving population.
