Galloway is an unincorporated community located within the city limits of North Little Rock, Arkansas in Pulaski County, Arkansas. It's located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 70 and Arkansas Highway 391. The community is served by I-40 interchange 161. The community is located along the north shore of Hills Lake, a serpentine oxbow formed by a prior channel of the Arkansas River. History The area was settled in the mid-1830s. Galloway Station, as it was originally known, was a stop along the Memphis & Little Rock Railroad and was named in the 1870s for the local farmer and businessman Walter A Galloway. North Little Rock, Arkansas
North Little Rock is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, across the Arkansas from Little Rock in the central part of the state. The population was 64,591 at the 2020 census. In 2019 the estimated population was 65,903, making it the seventh-most populous city in the state. Pulaski County is located in the U.S. state of Arkansas with a population of 399,125, making it the most populous county in Arkansas. The county is included in the Little Rock– North Little Rock– Conway metropolitan area. Its county seat is Little Rock, which is also Arkansas's capital and largest city. Fred And Lucy Alexander Schaer House
The Alexander-Schaer House is a historic house at 13219 United States Route 70, a short way east of Galloway, Arkansas. It is a two-story frame structure, with a gabled tile roof and brick veneer exterior. Built in 1920, it is a fine example of Mission/Spanish Revival architecture, with the tile roof, brick exterior, and decorative ironwork elements all hallmarks of the style. The house is shaded by ancient oaks and a pecan grove overlooking the cypress waters of Hill Lake. The house's design has been attributed to both John Parks Almand (who did work for Lucy Alexander Schaer's family) or Charles L. Thompson, who did work for other members of the Schaer family. Ashley-Alexander House
The Ashley-Alexander House (also known as the Alexander House) is a historic house located at 3514 Walkers Corner Road (Arkansas Highway 161) near Scott, Arkansas. Description The Ashley-Alexander House located just outside Little Rock in Lonoke County is a -story clapboarded log structure, built out of hand-hewn cypress logs and topped by a gable roof, set near the east side of the road. A porch projects from the center of the five-bay facade, with a two-window dormer above, and flanking shed-roof dormers flanking it on the main roof in a Colonial Revival-style. The house is 5,400 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and has a history of paranormal activity reports. Dortch Plantation
The Dortch Plantation, also known as the William P. Dortch House or the Marlsgate Plantation, is an historic house near Scott, Arkansas. Dortch House is the only plantation home in Arkansas that is fully furnished in the antebellum period style and available for tours and private events. The house and parts of the plantation were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The NRHP listing was increased in 1979 to cover additional building(s) dating from 1888.
