Frýdštejn Castle
Frýdštejn Castle () is a castle ruin in Frýdštejn in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It is one of three castles in Jablonec nad Nisou District. A typical rock castle, it lies on the upper end of a long sandstone rock ridge. The castle dominates the nearby Jizera river valley and the old trade route from Turnov to the north. History Frýdštejn was constructed during 14th century (exact date is not known). It is mentioned for the first time in a church source from 1385. Being owned by a Catholic it was besieged by Hussites in August 1432 but its lord had agreed to cease hostilities and later joined the Hussites. The castle had changed owners several times. After a sale in 1556 it lost its function as a watchtower and at the end of 16th century it was no longer inhabited. Zdeněk Hoření (9 February 1930 – 12 February 2021) was a Czechoslovak journalist who served as Editor-in-Chief of ''Rudé právo'', the official newspaper of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. Biography Hoření began working for ''Rudé právo'' in 1954 as an editor and served as its Moscow correspondent from 1962 to 1968. In 1969, he became Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the party magazine ''Tribuna'', and subsequently held the same role for ''Rudé právo''. Jičín Uplands
The Jičín Uplands () are uplands and a geomorphological mesoregion of the Czech Republic. It is located in the Hradec Králové, Liberec and Central Bohemian regions. Geomorphology The Jičín Uplands are a mesoregion of the North Bohemian Table within the Bohemian Massif. The uplands are rugged and sometimes have a character of flat highlands. Typical features of the relief are cuestas, tabular plateaus, horst and anticlinal ridges, erosional denudation and tectonically conditioned basins, and furrows. The relief is complemented by several river terraces. The uplands are further subdivided into the microregions of Turnov Uplands and Bělohrad Uplands. There are a lot of medium-high hills. Turnov
Turnov (; ) is a town in Semily District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 15,000 inhabitants. It is a traditional centre for gemstone polishing, glass craftsmanship and arts. Ještěd–Kozákov Ridge
The Ještěd–Kozákov Ridge (; ) is a ridge and geomorphological mesoregion of the Czech Republic. It is part of the Western Sudetes. The vast majority lies in the Liberec Region. Geomorphology Ještěd–Kozákov Ridge is a mesoregion of the Western Sudetes, which is part of the Sudetes within the Bohemian Massif. It is a distinctive horst and anticline ridge. It is further subdivided into the microregions of Ještěd Ridge and Kozákov Ridge.
