Flogging Molly
Flogging Molly is an Irish-American seven-piece Celtic punk band formed in Los Angeles in 1997, led by Irish vocalist Dave King, formerly of the hard rock band Fastway. They are signed to their own record label, Borstal Beat Records. History Early years Prior to forming Flogging Molly, Dublin-born Dave King was the lead singer for the heavy metal band Fastway featuring guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke of Motörhead in the early to mid-1980s. He later fronted a hard rock band called Katmandu (1991), featuring Mandy Meyer of Krokus and Asia on guitars. Afterward, King retained a record deal with Epic Records and began to work on a solo album, but began to reconsider his record deal when the label opposed his idea of bringing in traditional Irish instruments. ''Swagger'' is the debut studio album by the Celtic punk band Flogging Molly, mixed by Steve Albini. It was released in 2000. Reception In a very positive review, AllMusic called ''Swagger'' a combination of the "folk of the Pogues with an Oi! blast by way of the Dropkick Murphys". The reviewer went on to call the album "music that's perfect for any barroom brawl." Paul Crowder
Paul Crowder (born 30 December 1962, London, England) is an English musician, who later became a film editor and director. Life and career Crowder's career started as a musician and, in 1980, he joined with Philip Jap as his drummer. Jap was signed to A&M Records in 1981, and he recorded one album, and his 1982 single releases, "Save Us" and "Total Erasure", reached numbers 53 and 41 respectively in the UK Singles Chart. In 1983, Crowder then became an assistant recording engineer at Advision Studios. He was involved in the recording of such tracks as "Careless Whisper" by George Michael, and "Last Christmas" by Wham!
