Fjällsjöälven
Fjällsjöälven is a river in northwestern Ångermanland, Strömsund Municipality, Strömsund municipality.  It is a tributary of the Ångerman, Ångerman River. Length is about 80 km, and source flows are about 260 km. The Fjällsjöälven has its headwaters in the border region between Lapland (Sweden), Lapland and Jämtland with a northern source, the Saxån, and a southern source, the Sjoutälven, which unite in the four-mile-long Tåsjön (248 m above sea level). Below Tåsjön, Fjällsjöälven also receives water from Flåsjöån, Rörströmsälven and Hotingsån, when they merge in Bodumsjön (212 m above sea level) at Rossön (Bodums parish) in Strömsund Municipality, Strömsund municipality. In the lower reaches of the river there are Kilforsen (24 m) and Åkvissleforsen (30 m). Fjällsjöälven flows into Ångermanälven about 5 km northwest of Näsåker. __NOTOC__ The Ångerman or Angerman () is one of Sweden's longest rivers with a total length of . It also has the third largest flow rate, after the Göta and Lule. Name The name was formerly written Ångermann or Angermann. The name is derived from the Old Norse ''anger'', which means "deep fjord" and appear as such in placenames in Norway and as "ånger" in placenames along the coast of Norrland. Elk Migration Every spring, the span of the river is host to an annual northern migratory crossing by hundreds of thousands of elk known as the Great Moose Migration or ''Great Elk Trek''. More than 95% of the country's 300,000 elk are thought to migrate each year. Since 2019, the event has been livestreamed by Sweden's national broadcaster SVT. The village of Kullberg, on the western bank of the river, is a major source of footage for the livestream's channel. Strömsund Municipality (; ) is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Jämtland County in northern Sweden. Its administrative centre, seat is located in Strömsund. The nearest larger city is Östersund, the provincial capital of Jämtland, which is located approximately 100 km to the south. History Strömsund Municipality was formed in 1974 through the amalgamation of the former municipalities of Fjällsjö, Frostviken, Hammerdal and Ström.
