Fernando Meirelles
Fernando Ferreira Meirelles (; born 9 November 1955) is a Brazilian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for co-directing the film ''City of God (2002 film), City of God'', released in 2002 in Brazil and in 2003 in the United States of America, U.S. by Miramax Films, which received international critical acclaim. For his work in the film, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director in 2005 for ''The Constant Gardener (film), The Constant Gardener'', which garnered the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz. ''360'' is a 2011 drama (film and television), drama thriller film directed by Fernando Meirelles and written by Peter Morgan as a loose adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's 1897 play ''La Ronde (play), Reigen''. The film stars an ensemble cast of Anthony Hopkins, Ben Foster (actor), Ben Foster, Rachel Weisz, Jude Law and other international actors. Following the stories of couples and their sexual encounters, ''360'' was selected to open the 2011 London Film Festival.
