Futball Club Dunaföldvár is a professional Hungarian football club based in the town of Dunaföldvár, in Tolna County. Founded in 1925, it currently plays in Nemzeti Bajnokság III – Southwest, holding home games at Dunaföldvári Sportpálya. History For the first time in seventeen years, Dunaföldvár won the Tolna Megyei Bajnokság I in the 2022–23 season. They earned promotion to the third tier, by defeating Semjénháza 10–2 on aggregate in the promotion play-offs. The team's 2023–24 season started with the final of previous year's Tolna County Cup where they prevailed against Bátaszék by seven goals. Bálint Nyilasi (born 20 March 1990) is a Hungarian professional football manager and former player, who is currently the manager of Nemzeti Bajnokság III club Dunaföldvár. Club career On 26 May 2012, Nyilasi played his first match for Ferencváros in a 4–2 lose against Paks in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I. Nemzeti Bajnokság III (''NB III'', ''National Championship III'') is the third tier of Football in Hungary, Hungarian football (from the autumn of 1997 till the spring of 2005, NB III was the fourth tier, the third was NB II). The tier contains 4 groups (northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest) of 16 teams. From NB III, the champions of each group will battle promotion play-off, two teams winning play-off are promoted to the Nemzeti Bajnokság II, NB II. Dunaföldvár
Dunaföldvár is a town in Tolna County, Hungary. Its residents are Hungarian people, Hungarians, with minority of Serbs. History A Bronze Age gold hoard of jewellery was found between Paks and Dunaföldvár on the banks of the Danube in the nineteenth century. The treasure is now in the collections of the British Museum. Dunaföldvár was an important settlement at the time of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin, Hungarian conquest, and experienced its golden age during the 14th and 15th centuries. It was first mentioned in the work of the Turkish chronicler Sinan Chaus, who described the history of the 1543 expedition. However, the castle was destroyed in the autumn of 1686 after it was set ablaze by Turkish troops. The 2022–23 Megyei Bajnokság I includes the championships of 20 counties in Hungary. It is the fourth tier of the Hungarian football league system. Bács-Kiskun Kiskunfélegyháza and Bácsalmás were the only team to acquire the NB III license for next season. The Hungarian Cup (, ), officially known as MOL Magyar Kupa for sponsorship reasons, is the Hungarian cup competition for football clubs. It was started by the Hungarian Football Association'','' in 1909, eight years after the commencement of the Hungarian League. The 2023–24 Magyar Kupa () was the 84th season of Hungary's annual knock-out cup football competition. MOL was the sponsor of the tournament, thus the sponsored name is MOL Magyar Kupa. The winners qualified for the 2024–25 UEFA Europa League first qualifying round. Paks won the cup on 15 May 2024 (their first Magyar Kupa win), defeating Ferecváros 2–0 in the final.
