Estación Rancagua is a railway station of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado in Rancagua, Chile. It is the main railway station in the Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins Region. Estación Rancagua is part of the Red Sur EFE, the TerraSur inter-city service, and the Metrotrén commuter service stops here. Rancagua () is a city and commune in central Chile and part of the Rancagua conurbation. It is the capital of the Cachapoal Province and of the O'Higgins Region, located south of the national capital of Santiago. It was originally named Santa Cruz de Triana by Spanish colonists. In 2012, its population was 232,211. The main economic activities range from mining, tourism, agriculture, timber, food production and services to minor industrial activities. The city also serves as the administrative and legal center of the region. Together with Machalí and Gultro, it forms the Rancagua conurbation. Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (abbreviated EFE, lit. ''State Railway Company'') is the national railway and the oldest state-run enterprise in Chile. Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins Region
The Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins Region (, ), often shortened to O'Higgins Region (), is one of Chile's 16 first order administrative divisions. It is subdivided into three provinces. It is named in honour of Bernardo O'Higgins Riquelme, one of Chile's founding fathers. TerraSur
Tren Estación Central - Chillan (previously known as EFE Chillán or TerraSur) is a Chilean Inter-city rail service, opened in 2001 between Santiago and Chillán, on the ''Chilean Central Valley''. It is operated by the ''Trenes Regionales Terra S.A.'', a subsidiary of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE). Covering almost 400 km in less than 5 hours, it is the fastest public transportation between the two cities. Currently it is one of the only inter-city services that still operates in the country, (the other intercity rail service is the Alameda-Temuco train, a seasonal train) and is the fastest rail service in South America, with an operational speed reaching 160 km/h. Metrotrén
The Metrotrén (Spanish compound for ''metro'', ' subway' + ''tren'', 'train') was a Chilean commuter rail and regional rail service operated by the state-owned rail company EFE. The system started as a line between Santiago and San Fernando, unifying between them the city of Rancagua and 23 other towns in the Metropolitan and O'Higgins regions. This line was first connected with the Santiago Metro at Alameda station, which gave the name to the service. In 2017, after 5 years of renovation, the service was split into two, a fully renovated, commuter service between Santiago and Nos, a neighborhood in San Bernardo, in the south of the city, and an regional rail between Santiago and Rancagua. Estación San Fernando is a railway station of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado, located in San Fernando, Chile. It became part of the Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado on November 3, 1862. It is the main railway station in the Colchagua Province. It is located on Quechereguas avenue.
