Enter (Cybotron Album)
''Enter'' is the debut studio album by American techno group Cybotron, released in 1983. In 1990, it was reissued under the new title ''Clear''. In 2013, it was reissued under the original title, ''Enter'', with additional bonus tracks. Critical reception John Bush of AllMusic gave the album 5 stars out of 5, saying: "The collision of uanAtkins' vision for cosmic funk and the arena rock instincts of Rick Davis results in a surprisingly cohesive album, dated for all the right reasons and quite pop-minded." Lee DeVito of ''Metro Times'' said, "''Enter'' aims to do a lot of things here, but, thanks to driving drum machine beats, dancing and escapism almost always top the agenda." Cybotron (American Band)
Cybotron is an American electro music group formed in 1980 by Juan Atkins and Richard "3070" Davis in Detroit. Cybotron had a number of singles now considered classics and style-defining works of the electro genre, particularly " Clear" and the group's debut, "Alleys of Your Mind", as well as "Cosmic Cars" and "R-9". "Techno City" is also considered an early Detroit techno track. Influences The group was inspired by midwestern funk, especially the music of electro funk pioneer George Clinton, along with German synthesizer band Kraftwerk, Japanese technopop pioneers Yellow Magic Orchestra, American electro music, English synthpop, Italo disco, and futurist literary influences such as Alvin Toffler's books ''Future Shock'' and '' The Third Wave''. Techno
Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempos being in the range from 120 to 150 beats per minute (bpm). Juan Atkins (born September 12, 1962), also known as Model 500 and Infiniti, is an American record producer and DJ from Detroit, Michigan. ''Mixmag'' has described him as "the original pioneer of Detroit techno." He has been a member of the Belleville Three, Cybotron (American band), Cybotron, and Borderland. Early life Juan Atkins was born in Detroit, Michigan. His father is a concert promoter. At an early age, he played guitar and bass guitar in funk/garage bands with his friends. After his parents split, he moved to Belleville, Michigan. In junior high school, he met Derrick May (musician), Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson. The three would later be known as the Belleville Three. At the age of 15, he bought his first synthesizer, a Korg MS-10.
