Eduardo Adelino da Silva (born October 13, 1979), better known as simply Eduardo, is a former Brazilian footballer. He played as forward or as a attacking midfielder. Career Early career Eduardo started out as a youngster at his home-town club Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama in 1999. He started out in the reserves originally but soon broke into the first team because of his goalscoring ability. He made his debut at the age of 20 and made an impact. He grew stronger with every game and by the end of the season he had a respectable goal tally. His goalscoring talent had got him noticed in Europe and in 2000 he signed for Belgian Jupiler League side R. Charleroi S.C. at the age of 21. He was a substitute for the first few games of the season but when he eventually did start in the black and white shirt he impressed both the management and the fans. Christian Jürgen Gross (born 14 August 1954) is a Swiss football manager and former player. He played as a sweeper and central midfielder. Gross was manager of Basel from 1999 to 2009, winning four Swiss Super Leagues and four Swiss Cups. As manager of Tottenham Hotspur between November 1997 and September 1998, Gross became the first Swiss to manage in the Premier League. Playing career Gross began his playing career at SV Höngg before moving to Grasshopper in 1965, which he left in 1976. The 2005–06 UEFA Cup, the 35th edition of the UEFA Cup, was won by Sevilla, beating Middlesbrough in the final. It was the first victory for Sevilla in a European competition, and the first appearance by Middlesbrough in a European final. The final took place at Philips Stadion, in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The match was refereed by Herbert Fandel. Middlesbrough sealed their place in the final on the back of two dramatic comebacks.
