The unincorporated communities of Beaumont, Eagle Lake Manor, Eagle Lake Terrace, Kansasville, and Rosewood are located in the town. The census-designated place of Eagle lake is also located in the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.2 square miles (93.7 km), of which, 35.4 square miles (91.6 km) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (2.1 km) of it (2.27%) is water. Demographics At the 2000 census, there were 3,908 people, 1,193 households, and 889 families in the town. The population density was 110.5 people per square mile (42.7/km). There were 1,344 housing units at an average density of 38.0 per square mile (14.7/km). Kansasville is an unincorporated community in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The area is a part of the Town of Dover. The area has also been referred to as Brighton or Eagle Lake, Wisconsin. History The origin for the name of the area is uncertain; some sources claim it was named after the Kansas-Nebraska Act, while others claim it was named in honor of area settlers from Kansas. Another belief is that it was named after the railroad system in town which used to operate from Wisconsin to Kansas. Education The community is served by the Dover School District, a district with only one school, Kansasville Grade School. John Todd Trowbridge
John Todd Trowbridge (October 23, 1780May 3, 1858) was an American sea captain, businessman, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was the first American settler at what is now the town of Dover in Racine County, Wisconsin, and represented Racine County in the Wisconsin Territory House of Representatives during the 4th Wisconsin Territorial Assembly. Biography Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Trowbridge was a sea captain. During the War of 1812, he was captured by the British and held prisoner in Calcutta, India, and then Dartmoor Prison in England. After the war, Trowbridge was released and went to Rochester, New York, where he owned a shipping business. In 1836, Trowbridge, his wife, and family moved to Wisconsin Territory, where they settled in what is now Dover, Racine County, Wisconsin. There they built a log cabin that served as an inn. Eagle Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Dover, Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,251 at the 2020 census. Geography Eagle Lake is located at (42.697369, -88.133741). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.0 square miles (7.8 km2), of which, 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2) of it (27.00%) is water Racine County's Eagle Lake Park is located on the north side of the lake.
