The Dutch Wikipedia ( nl, Nederlandstalige Wikipedia) is the Dutch-language edition of the free online encyclopedia, Wikipedia. It was founded on 19 June 2001. As of , the Dutch Wikipedia is the -largest Wikipedia edition, with articles. It was the fourth Wikipedia edition to exceed one million articles, after the English, German, and French editions. In April 2016, 1154 active editors made at least five edits in that month. Dutch is consistently the most popular Wikipedia in the Netherlands. In Belgium, sometimes it is the most popular as well; in Suriname however, the only Dutch-speaking country outside Europe, it is second after English. In Belgium, the most popular Wikipedia is usually French. In Curaçao and Aruba, as well in Caribbean Netherlands, it has a presence, but has fewer pageviews than English there. ''Dag'' (; en, Day), stylized as ''DAG'', was a Dutch-language tabloid newspaper in the Netherlands that was freely distributed between 2007 and 2008. It was released jointly by publishing company PCM and telecommunications company KPN. Bob Witman was the editor-in-chief. The first edition of ''Dag'' was published on 8 May 2007 with a circulation of 300,000 copies, accompanied with the launch of the website. Dutch Low Saxon Wikipedia
The Neadersassiske Wikipedia, the Dutch Low Saxon edition of Wikipedia, was started on 24 March 2006. It collects articles written in any Low German dialect indigenous to the Netherlands, as well as a small number of articles in varieties of Low German from Germany. As of , this edition has about articles. Among other features, there are spoken articles, "showcased" articles and provincial portals. The Dutch Low Saxon Wikipedia has been cited in the Dutch press, and Low Saxon institutes in the Netherlands have noted it and contributed to it. Characteristics Dutch Low Saxon has traditionally been an oral set of dialects exclusively, with a modest literary tradition existing since the 19th century. Village Pump
A well is an excavation or structure created in the ground by digging, driving, or drilling to access liquid resources, usually water. The oldest and most common kind of well is a water well, to access groundwater in underground aquifers. The well water is drawn up by a pump, or using containers, such as buckets or large water bags that are raised mechanically or by hand. Water can also be injected back into the aquifer through the well. Wells were first constructed at least eight thousand years ago and historically vary in construction from a simple scoop in the sediment of a dry watercourse to the qanats of Iran, and the stepwells and sakiehs of India. Placing a lining in the well shaft helps create stability, and linings of wood or wickerwork date back at least as far as the Iron Age. The Wikipedia community, collectively known colloquially as Wikipedians, is an informal community that volunteers to create and maintain Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia.
