Deniz Doğan (born 20 October 1979) is a Turkish-German football coach and football player, who currently works for the reserve team of Eintracht Braunschweig as a playing assistant. Career Doğan began his professional at 2. Bundesliga side VfL Osnabrück in 2003. After one season, he transferred to his hometown club VfB Lübeck. After three years in Lübeck, Doğan joined Eintracht Braunschweig in 2007, then playing in the Regionalliga Nord. He went on to play eight seasons for Braunschweig, wearing the number 8. Mehtap Doğan-Sızmaz, née Sızmaz, (born November 16, 1978) is a Turkish long-distance runner, who specialized in the marathon. She won the gold medal in the women's marathon at the 2001 Mediterranean Games held in Tunis, Tunisia. She set a women's course record on the way to victory at the 2009 Madrid Marathon. She made a strong start at the 2010 Düsseldorf Marathon in April, but ended up dropping out after leading the race early on. Mazlum Doğan (1955 – 21 March 1982) was a journalist and a founding member of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). He was a Kurdish Alevi which was often told to attract new recruits to PKK. He was the first editor-in-chief of the PKK's propaganda newspaper '' Serxwebûn''. In 1979, he had planned to leave Turkey towards Syria but was arrested and served time in the infamous Diyarbakir No. 5 prison. Mazlum Doğan committed suicide in protest of the Turkish coup d'état and the inhumane conditions he and other prisoners were facing inside of the penitentiary. Today he is presented as a hero and a martyr by the PKK and related organisations. Harun Doğan (1 January 1976 in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey) is a Turkish retired World and European champion sports wrestler competing in the -58 kg division of men's freestyle wrestling. He was coached by Avni Tarhan. In 2005 he was banned from sport for life after his second doping violation. Scandal At the 2000 Summer Olympics, he caused scandals. In his second match in the elimination round, he did not wear the official Turkish wrestling singlet with the national star and crescent insignia but his own singlet despite warnings of the team leader.
