Dominic Đặng Văn Cầu
Dominic Đặng Văn Cầu (Vietnamese: Đa Minh Đặng Văn Cầu) is a Vietnamese prelate. He was appointed Bishop of Thái Bình on 29 of October 2022. Cầu was set to be appointed bishop with Joseph Bùi Công Trác on the same day, but Trác was appointed later on 1 November due to Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng being on a retreat. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1996 and previously served as Rector of the Sacred Heart Major Seminary of Thái Bình since 2017. He was ordained bishop on 31 December 2022 in front of the Diocesan Pastoral Center (adjacent to the cathedral) and consecrated by Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng. Joseph Nguyễn Năng (born 1953) is a Vietnamese prelate of the Catholic Church who has been a bishop since 2009 and the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saigon, Metropolitan Archdiocese of Saigon since October 2019. He was elected president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam in October 2022. Biography Joseph Nguyễn Năng was born on 24 November 1953 in Phúc Nhạc, Ninh Bình Province. Joseph Bùi Công Trác (Vietnamese: Giuse Bùi Công Trác) is a Vietnamese prelate. He was ordained a priest in 1999 and was appointed Rector of Saint Joseph Major Seminary of Sài Gòn by Archbishop Paul Bùi Văn Đọc in 2016 and remains so as of 2024. On 1 November 2022, Pope Francis appointed Trác as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Hồ Chí Minh City. Biography Bùi Công Tắc was born on 5 May 1965 in the city of Đà Lạt in South Việt Nam.
