Deepsky
Deepsky is an electronic music act based in Los Angeles. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Deepsky was formed in 1995 by J. Scott G. and Jason Blum after the dissolution of their first band Q, active from 1992-1995. Its two founding members met originally at the University of New Mexico. Between 1995 and 1996 they concurrently comprised the Dayspring Collective with Shawn Parker, whom together released a CD on the Fragrant Music label titled ''Spark'' in 1997. Giaquinta left the band in November 2006 to focus on solo projects as well as start the group Summer Channel; Blum continues to produce and perform under the Deepsky name. History Deepsky's first commercial vinyl, the ''In My Mind'' EP, was released in 1996 on Rampant Records. In Silico (Deepsky Album)
''In Silico'' is an album by the American electronic music group Deepsky. It was released in 2002. The title refers to the largely computer-based production methods employed during its creation, where the bulk of the music was composed using softsynths and Emagic Logic Audio 5 rather than external hardware synthesizers and traditional multi-track recorders. The website ''AllMusic'' gave ''In Silico'' three stars out of a possible five, with the reviewer John Bush writing that the album "has it all: the low attention span of funky breaks, the streamlined groove of progressive trance, even the intelligent production and frequent changeups of techno". ''Amp'' was a music video program on MTV that aired from 1996 to 2001. Kinetic Records was a New York City-based record label founded by Steve Lau (founding member of Sire Records act the Ocean Blue), and co-owned with Alyson Shapero. The label launched the careers of artists and DJs such as Paul Oakenfold, BT, Ray Munns, Deepsky, Kosheen, Tilt, Timo Maas, Grace, Sandra Collins, Billy Thermal, Binary Finary, and Shpongle. Proton Radio is an internet electronic music station founded in 2002 by Sam Packer, Alex Ambroziak, and Eric Liberda. The station features over 200 exclusive shows from various DJs around the world, including guest DJ sets from DJs such as Sasha (DJ), Sasha, Luke Chable, James Zabiela, Anthony Pappa, Kasey Taylor, Lance Cashion, Oliver Lieb, Way Out West (duo), Way Out West, and others.
