Danish Women's Handball League
The Kvindeligaen () is the top professional league for Danish women's handball clubs. It is administered by the Danish Handball Federation, and the winners are recognized as Danish champions. The league was previously called Bambusa Kvindeligaen for sponsorship reasons. It has previously been known as HTH GO Ligaen, Primo Tours Ligaen, Boxer Dameligaen, TOMS Ligaen and GuldBageren Ligaen. The current title holder is Team Esbjerg (2024). The European Handball Federation (EHF) ranks the Danish league 4th in the coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the past seasons. Competition format The Kvindeligaen shares the season style with the men's league. It consists of 14 teams, each playing 26 regular season games. Nykøbing Falster Håndboldklub (Nykøbing Falster Handball Club) is a Danish professional handball club from Nykøbing Falster. In the 2024–25 season, the club competes in the Danish Women's Handball League. They have a local rivalry with København Håndbold. History Nykøbing Falster was promoted to the top league in Denmark, Damehåndboldligaen, for the first time for 2013-14, by winning the 1st Division in 2012-13. In their first season in the top league, they finished 11th, which meant relegation/promotion play-off matches against SK Århus. They would go on to lose, but due to Vejen EH's bankruptcy, the club could stay in the league. 2024-25 Damehåndboldligaen
A coxless four, abbreviated as a 4- and also called a straight four, is a racing shell used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars, without a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side). As there is no coxswain, the rudder is controlled by one of the crew, normally with the rudder cable attached to the toe of one of their shoes which can pivot about the ball of the foot, moving the cable left or right. The steersman may row at bow, who has the best vision when looking over their shoulder, or on straighter courses stroke may steer, since they can point the stern of the boat at some landmark at the start of the course. Aarhus Håndbold Women is a women's handball club based in Aarhus, Denmark. As of the 2024–25 season, the team competes in the Damehåndboldligaen. The club also includes a men's team, competing the Danish 1st Division. In June 2024, it was announced that Aarhus United and Aarhus HC had decided to merge under the new club name ''Aarhus Håndbold''. When the club was founded, Skanderborg AGF Håndbold decided to sue them, as they used the same club name as one of the founders of Skanderborg AGF, Aarhus Håndbold. In April 2025, in their first season, the club was relegated from the top level of Damehåndboldligaen to the 1st Division, placing 14th in the final standings. Ringkøbing Håndbold
Ringkøbing Håndbold (Ringkøbing Handball) is a Danish handball club from Ringkøbing. In the season 2023/24 the club played in the Danish Women's Handball League. When they played in the Danish 1st division, they reached the promotion play-off three times in a row in 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11, but they did not manage to be promoted. In 2013 a week before the beginning of the 2013/2014 season, the top flight club Aalborg DH went bankrupt and was thus administratively relegated. Ringkøbing Håndbold were offered to take their place, which they accepted. Ringkøbing Håndbold played six seasons in the top flight before being relegated in 2018/2019 season. The next season promotion was just missed, when the club came second in the 1st division. However, in the 2020/2021 season they did win the 1st Division and thus promoted once again to the top flight. Horsens Håndboldklub Elite, also known as Horsens Håndboldklubis a Danish handball club. For the 2018/19 season, the team promoted to the Damehåndboldligaen, after its relegation in 2010. The team plays at home in Forum Horsens. At elite level the team goes by HH Elite, while at amateur and youth levels, the team is called by their original name, Horsens Håndboldklub. History The club was established in 1985 when Horsens forenede Håndboldklubber (HfH) and Dagnæs IF chose to merge. They decided to merge, as HfH only had a senior level team, while Dagnæs IF had good youth teams, but no senior team at a competitive level. SønderjyskE Damehåndbold is a women's handball club based in Aabenraa in South Jutland, Denmark. The club was founded in 2004 and has been part of the top tier league, Damehåndboldligaen two times. They promoted to the league again for the 2022/23 season. History SønderjyskE was created as a club for the whole region of South Jutland as it was obvious that it was impossible to create elite teams able to compete in the top leagues on the former basis of city teams. The men's football team used to be solely based in the city of Haderslev under the name Haderslev FK. EH Aalborg is a handball club from Aalborg and Nørresundby, Denmark. Currently, EH Aalborg competes in the women's Damehåndboldligaen. The home arena of the club is Nørresundby Idrætscenter. History The club was founded in 2014 under the name ''Team Abybro'' as a fusion of Visse IF and Åbybro HK. The intention was to create a top women's team around Aalborg and in general the Northern Jutland region, after Aalborg DH went bankrupt in 2013. Aarhus United
Aarhus United was a Danish women's handball club based in Aarhus. They played in Damehåndboldligaen, Denmark's premier women's handball league. Aarhus United was founded in 2017 and took over SK Aarhus's league license for the 2017-18 season. In June 2024, it was announced that the club and another Aarhus based handball team Aarhus HC had decided to merge under the new club name Aarhus Håndbold. Aarhus United was founded as a reaction to the closing of the former Aarhus club SK Århus closing. The previous club had to close as the head sponsor withdrew, and the economy was not good enough to maintain the club.
