''Cão!'' was the first studio album by Portuguese rock music, rock band Ornatos Violeta, released on 15 September 1997 by Polygram. Three Single (music), singles were released from this album: "Punk Moda Funk", "A Dama do Sinal" and "Mata-me Outra Vez". Reception In 2009, ''Cão!'' was named by ''Blitz (Portuguese magazine), Blitz'' as the 5th best album released by a Portuguese band in the 90's. The album was also included in the same publication's list of the best albums recorded by bands from the city of Porto, along works by artists such as GNR (band), GNR, Rui Veloso and Blind Zero. ''O Monstro Precisa de Amigos'' is the second studio album by Portuguese band Ornatos Violeta, released on 22 November 1999 by Polydor. Two Music Video, music videos were filmed, for the songs "Ouvi Dizer" and "Capitão Romance". Recording and production The recording of Ornatos' second studio album was a difficult one. The band rejected "dozens of songs" during the album's development sessions with producer Mário Barreiros, with the band's members becoming so frustrated that they expressed a sudden desire of giving up on the project completely after just two months of production. Some of these rejected songs, such as "Como Afundar", "Há-de Encarnar", "Rio de Raiva" and "Devagar" were later included in the 2011 release of a CD box containing both studio albums and a third CD, named ''Inéditos/Raridades'', with previously unreleased songs. Ornatos Violeta
Ornatos Violeta are a Portuguese rock band from Porto. The band, often referred to simply as Ornatos, consists of vocalist Manel Cruz, bassist Nuno Prata, guitarist Peixe and drummer Kinörm. Elísio Donas was the band's keyboardist until his death in 2023. Their main period of activity was between 1991 and 2002. Since then, the band has reunited twice: in 2012, when they played a few concerts across Portugal, and in 2018. This last reunion remains active as of 2023. Ornatos Violeta, whose music is influenced by funk, jazz and ska, grew over the years to become a reference of Portuguese music of the late 1990s. Funk

''Blitz'' is a Portuguese media brand that focus on popular music and pop culture, based in Paço de Arcos. Since February 2018, the brand is present only on digital media and sporadic, special printed editions. Between November 1984 and April 2006, ''Blitz'' took the form of a weekly newspaper.
