Cristián Alberto Castañeda Vargas (born 18 September 1968) is a retired Chilean football player. He played for a few clubs, including Universidad de Chile (football club), Universidad de Chile and Corporación Deportiva Everton de Viña del Mar, Everton Viña del Mar, his last club was Corporación Deportiva Ciudad San Marcos de Arica, Deportes Arica. Nicknamed "Scooby-Doo, Scooby" Castañeda played for the Chile national football team and was a participant at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He was capped 25 times scoring 1 goal between 1994 and 1998, and made his debut on 1994-03-26. Personal life He belongs to a football family since his father, Hugo, and his uncles Víctor Castañeda, Víctor, Rolando and , were professional footballers. Víctor Manuel Castañeda Flores (born 21 December 1938) is a Chilean former footballer. He played in one match for the Chile national football team in 1967. He was also part of Chile's squad for the 1967 South American Championship. Copa Chile
The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season.
