Confraternity Carnival
The Confraternity Carnival, commonly referred to as Confro, is the premier rugby league competition for Catholic and independent secondary schools in Queensland, Australia, held annually since 1980. Administered by the Queensland Rugby League and run by the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Rugby League, the competition is a week-long carnival that features over 1200 students from up to 54 schools in July each year. In 2020 a Girls competition was introduced for the first time. However, this was cancelled in 2020 and cut short in 2021 due to COVID-19. The historic inaugural Girls winners were Marymount College in 2022. The carnival has featured a number of current and former Australian and Queensland representatives, including Johnathan Thurston, Matthew Scott, Matthew Bowen, Bob Lindner, Xavier Coates, Wendell Sailor, Daly Cherry-Evans, Michael Morgan and Cameron Munster. Queensland Rugby League
The Queensland Rugby Football League QRL Constitution, 2009: 3 (QRL QRL Constitution, 2009: 2) is the governing body for rugby league in Queensland. It is a member of the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARL Commission) and selects the members of the Queensland rugby league team. The QRL aims to "foster, develop, extend, govern and control Rugby League Football throughout the State of Queensland". Today the QRL administers the rugby league through its regional divisions. Michael Morgan (rugby League Born 1991)
Michael Morgan (born 27 December 1991) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the NRL. Morgan played as a and for the North Queensland Cowboys, winning the 2015 NRL premiership and 2016 World Club Challenge with the club. He represented Australia, Queensland and the Prime Minister's XIII, winning a World Cup with Australia in 2017. Background Morgan was born and raised in Townsville, Queensland. Padua College is an independent Roman Catholic boys' primary and high school located in the Brisbane suburb of Kedron, Queensland, Australia. The college derives its name from Franciscan friar Saint Anthony of Padua (1195–1231), appointed by St Francis as the first professor of theology for the friars. The North Sydney Bears are an Australian rugby league football club based in Cammeray on Sydney's North Shore (Sydney), North Shore. The club currently competes in the NSW Cup, having exited the National Rugby League following the 1999 NRL season after 90 years in the premier rugby league competition in Australia. At the end of the 1999 season, the club merged with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles to form the Northern Eagles which only lasted two years and the license was reverted to the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles leaving the Bears without top flight representation.
