''Commandment'' is the seventh studio album by American death metal band Six Feet Under. It was released April 17, 2007, on Metal Blade Records. Music videos were released for "Ghosts of the Undead" and "Doomsday". "Doomsday" was premiered on ''Headbangers Ball'' on November 10. Six Feet Under (band)
Six Feet Under is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1993. The band is currently composed of founding vocalist Chris Barnes, bassist Jeff Hughell, drummer Marco Pitruzzella, and guitarists Ray Suhy and Jack Owen. It was originally a side project formed by Barnes with guitarist Allen West of Obituary, but became a full-time commitment after Barnes was dismissed from Cannibal Corpse in 1995. Metal Blade Records (often shortened to Metal Blade) is an American independent record label founded by Brian Slagel in 1982 based in the U.S. state of California. Chris Barnes (musician)
Chris Barnes (born December 29, 1967) is an American death metal vocalist, lyricist and producer who currently serves as the frontman of Six Feet Under. Artistically, he is noted for his low guttural vocals and explicitly violent lyrics. Barnes was the co-founder and original lead vocalist and lyricist of Cannibal Corpse, staying with the band from 1988 to 1995. He later founded the Florida death metal band Six Feet Under, for whom he also provided lead vocals. In addition, he has also appeared on Torture Killer's second album ''Swarm!'' Barnes designed the original Cannibal Corpse logo, the Six Feet Under logo and the artwork for the band's 1997 album '' Warpath''. Erik Rutan
Erik Rutan (born June 10, 1971) is an American heavy metal musician and record producer. He is the guitarist and lead vocalist of death metal band Hate Eternal, as well as the lead guitarist for Cannibal Corpse. Rutan has also played with Morbid Angel and Ripping Corpse. In addition, Rutan owns and operates Mana Recording Studios in Florida. Early life Rutan was born in New Jersey. Career Ripping Corpse Rutan started his music career with Ripping Corpse, recording one album titled '' Dreaming with the Dead'' released in 1991. Morbid Angel Rutan left Ripping Corpse in 1993 to join Morbid Angel, recording '' Domination'' (1995) before leaving in 1996 to found his own band, Hate Eternal. Death Rituals
''Death Rituals'' is the eighth studio album by American death metal band Six Feet Under. It was released on November 11, 2008, through Metal Blade Records. It is also available in a limited digipak edition with three live bonus tracks. On October 6, 2008, the song "Shot in the Head" was posted at Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles as part of their "Knuckle Tracks" online player. The song was removed on October 12, 2008. Another song titled "Seed Of Filth" was available for streaming on the Metal Blade Records MySpace page from October 21, 2008. The song was also released as the album's first single. A video was shot on October 31, 2008, at Gasoline Alley in Largo, Florida. This was the last album of original material to feature founding bassist Terry Butler and drummer Greg Gall. Headbangers Ball
''Headbangers Ball'' is a music television program that consists of heavy metal music videos airing on MTV and its global affiliates. The show began on MTV on April 18, 1987, playing heavy metal music videos from both well-known and more obscure artists. The show offered (and became famous because of) a stark contrast to Top 40 music videos shown during the day. However, with the mainstream rise of alternative rock, grunge, pop punk and rap music in the 1990s, the relevance of ''Headbangers Ball'' came into question, and the show was ultimately canceled in 1995. Over eight years later, as new genres of heavy metal were gaining a commercial foothold and fan interest became unavoidable, the program was reintroduced on MTV2. It had remained in varying degrees on the network's website, but by the early 2020s, it was no longer shown on television. Steve Swanson (musician)
Steve Swanson is an American musician, best known as the former lead guitarist for the death metal band Six Feet Under. He took over guitar duties from Allen West (of Obituary), who left the band in late 1997. Before Swanson joined Six Feet Under, he was in Massacre, another Florida death metal band He has two children. In early December 2008, Swanson's house was broken into, and a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, six guitars, a Line 6 guitar amp, and a Hewlett Packard laptop were stolen. Terry Butler
Terry Butler is an American bassist who currently performs with the death metal bands Obituary (band), Obituary and Inhuman Condition. He was also a member of Six Feet Under (band), Six Feet Under, Massacre (metal band), Massacre and Death (metal band), Death. He is married with three children, and is brother-in-law of former Six Feet Under bandmate Greg Gall. On May 7, 2019, Butler's then 27-year-old daughter, Jona Wright, died in a single-vehicle car accident after her car came off the road and was overturned multiple times, also leaving Butler's two grandsons, ages 6 and 10 at the time, who were also in the vehicle, with minor injuries.
