Claire Wendling
Claire Wendling (born 1967) is a French comics author. Biography In 1989, while still in the School of Fine Arts of Angoulême, she won the "Artist of the Future" prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival and participated in two anthologies published by Delcourt, ''The Children of the Nile'' and ''Entrechats''. In 1990 began her one and only series Les Lumières de l'Amalou (The lights of Amalou), written by Christophe Gibelin, which won the Press award at Angoulême. In 1997, she was hired by Warners studio and moved to Los Angeles to participate in various projects including ''The Quest for Camelot''. Failing to acclimatize, she returned to France eight months later and published ''Desk'', a book of sketches made in Los Angeles. In 2000, she did graphic design work for the video game ''Alone in the Dark IV''. The Angoulême International Comics Festival (french: Festival international de la bande dessinée d'Angoulême) is the second largest comics festival in Europe after the Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, and the third biggest in the world after Lucca Comics & Games and the Comiket of Japan. ''Quest for Camelot'' (released internationally as ''The Magic Sword: Quest for Camelot'') is a 1998 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Warner Bros. Feature Animation and directed by Frederik Du Chau and very loosely based on the 1976 novel ''The King's Damosel'' by Vera Chapman. It features the voices of Jessalyn Gilsig, Cary Elwes, Gary Oldman, Eric Idle, Don Rickles, Jaleel White, Jane Seymour, Pierce Brosnan, Gabriel Byrne, John Gielgud (his final film), Frank Welker and Sarah Rayne. Jeffrey Catherine Jones
Jeffrey Catherine Jones (January 10, 1944 – May 19, 2011) was an American artist whose work is best known from the late 1960s through the 2000s. Jones created the cover art for more than 150 books through 1976, as well as venturing into fine art during and after this time. Fantasy artist Frank Frazetta called Jones "the greatest living painter". Although Jones first achieved fame as simply Jeff Jones and later as Jeffrey Jones, after 1998 she transitioned to female and added Catherine as a middle name. Early life Jeffrey Durwood Jones was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. As a child, her father was overseas in the military. She graduated from Georgia State College in 1967 with a degree in geology and was keenly interested in art and admired the work of Johannes Vermeer, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, and Rembrandt. The Grand Prix de la ville d'Angoulême is a lifetime achievement award given annually during the Angoulême International Comics Festival to a comics author. Although not a monetary award, it is considered the most prestigious award in Franco-Belgian comics. It has been awarded mainly to French and Belgian authors, but also to international authors. Recipients are, on average, 50 years old. Three women, Florence Cestac, Rumiko Takahashi, and Julie Doucet have been awarded the prize.
