''Channel 4 News'' is the main news programme on British television broadcaster Channel 4. It is produced by ITN, and has been in operation since Channel 4's launch in November 1982. Current productions ''Channel 4 News'' ''Channel 4 News'' is the name of Channel 4's main evening news programme. The editor is Esme Wren, appointed in 2022. The programme is presented by Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Cathy Newman, Matt Frei, Jackie Long and Fatima Manji and is on the air Monday to Thursday from 7:00 to 7:55 pm, Friday from 7:00 to 7:30 pm, and at variable times at weekends. Krishnan Guru-Murthy
Krishnan Guru-Murthy (born 5 April 1970) is a British journalist. He is the lead presenter of ''Channel 4 News''. He also presents ''Unreported World'', a foreign-affairs documentary series. Early life Guru-Murthy's father, an Indian consultant radiologist, worked in Blackburn and Burnley. The family lived in Liverpool, then moved to a "gothic folly" in a village outside Burnley. Guru-Murthy attended the then-private Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn, Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Blackburn, before studying philosophy, politics and economics at Hertford College, Oxford. Alastair Stewart
Alastair James Stewart OBE (born 22 June 1952) is a retired English journalist and newscaster. Stewart joined Southern Television in 1976, then joined ITN in 1980, where he served three years with ''Channel 4 News'' and went on to become a main newsreader with ITV News. He remained in this role for more than 35 years, making him the longest-serving male newsreader on British television, having worked in both local and national news for 44 years. As a presenter for ITV News, he won the Royal Television Society's News Presenter of the Year award in 2004 and 2005. Sandy Gall
Henderson Alexander Gall, (born 1 October 1927) is a Scottish journalist, author, and former Independent Television News (ITN) news presenter whose career as a journalist has spanned more than 50 years. He began his career in journalism as a sub-editor at the ''Aberdeen Press and Journal'' in 1952 and became a foreign correspondent for the Reuters international news agency from 1953 to 1963. Gall joined ITN as a foreign reporter and troubleshooter in 1963, and also worked as a newscaster on '' News at Ten'' between 1970 and 1991. John Suchet
John Aleck Suchet ( ; born 29 March 1944) is an English author, television news journalist and presenter of classical music on Classic FM. His journalistic career began when he worked as a graduate trainee at the Reuters news agency in 1967 and later joined BBC News as a sub-editor for the '' Nine O'Clock News'' from 1970 to 1971. Sir Trevor Lawson McDonald (born George McDonald; 16 August 1939) is a Trinidadian-British newsreader and journalist, best known for his career as a news presenter with Independent Television News (ITN). Kylie Morris is an Australian journalist who was the Washington, D.C. correspondent for the UK's ''Channel 4 News'' until August 2019. She moved to the United Kingdom in 1998 after working with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. She began working for the BBC in 2000 as a foreign correspondent. More4 is a British free-to-air television channel, owned by Channel Four Television Corporation. The channel launched on 10 October 2005. Its programming mainly focuses on lifestyle and documentaries, as well as foreign dramas. Content The idea of a sister channel aimed at an older demographic than the youth oriented E4 with the More4 branding was first planned by Channel 4 back in 2003, although it in fact had grown out of an earlier idea which had been known as G4.
