Carlos Meléndez (politician)
Carlos Meléndez Ramírez (1 February 1861 – 8 October 1919) was a Salvadoran politician who served as the president of El Salvador from 1913 to 1914 and again from 1915 to 1918. He also served as the president of the Legislative Assembly from 1912 to 1913. Meléndez's presidency was a part of the broader Meléndez–Quiñónez dynasty that ruled El Salvador from 1913 to 1927. Early and personal life Carlos Meléndez Ramírez was born on 1 February 1861 in San Salvador, El Salvador. His parents were Rafael Meléndez and Mercedes Ramírez de Meléndez. His maternal grandfather was Norberto Ramírez, the president of El Salvador from 1840 to 1841. His siblings were Rafael, Francisco, Guillermo, Jorge (who later served as president from 1919 to 1923), Leonor, Carmen, and Sor. His sister Carmen married Alfonso Quiñónez Molina, a physician. Carlos Antonio Meléndez Flores (born 12 November 1958 in San Salvador, El Salvador) is a retired Salvadoran football (soccer) player. Club career Nicknamed ''El Cacho'', Meléndez, won the Salvadoran league title with Atlético Marte in 1985. In 1980, he played in Costa Rica for Asociación Deportiva San Miguel. Carlos Meléndez (singer)
Carlos Javier Meléndez Sauri (born 10 April 1965 in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican architect and singer who is a former member of Menudo. Meléndez is a cousin of band creator Edgardo Diaz, who had success as director of La Pandilla in Spain and who admired the success obtained by The Jackson 5 in the United States. Carlos Meléndez and his brothers, Oscar and Ricky, wore curly hair, a style which was popular during the 1970s. In 1977, Diaz created Menudo, asking Carlos and his brothers to become band members, along with Fernando and Nefty Sallaberry, who are also brothers. Carlos Meléndez lasted in Menudo until mid 1980, barely missing out on the group's golden era. The only Meléndez brother to participate during Menudo's era of worldwide fame was Ricky.
