Cagua, Aragua
Cagua () is a city of Venezuela, capital of the Sucre Municipality of Aragua State. Cagua is part of the metropolitan area of Maracay. History Cagua was established in 1620 as "Cagua La Vieja", a town of original Spaniards. Cagua was rebuilt in its current location in 1622 with the new name of "Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Cagua", which was changed to "San José de Cagua" during the 18th century. The city is now known simply as Cagua. The origin of the name comes from the indigenous Cumanagoto word ''"Cahigua"'', which means snail. Geography Cagua is located at 458 meters above sea level in the valley of Aragua, in the northwestern part of the Aragua State. Its climate is Köppen's Tropical savannah. Cumanagoto People
The Cumanagoto people are a group of Native Americans in South America. Their language belongs to the Carib language family (Gildea 1998). Their territory extended originally over the ancient province of Nueva Andalucía (Cumaná and Barcelona) in eastern Venezuela, and their descendants live now in the north of Anzoátegui State, Venezuela. The Cumanagotos lived in northeastern Venezuela at the time of the Spanish incursion. Since the 17th century they have not existed as a tribal or governmental unit. The Cumanagoto spoke a Cariban language, related to that of the Palenque. Some even say that the Palenque spoke a dialect of Cumanagoto (Mason 1950). They were agricultural, growing maize, manioc, sweet potatoes, and other native crops, as well as coca trees. They also gathered wild foods, and hunting was important. Caracas
Caracas ( , ), officially Santiago de León de Caracas (CCS), is the capital and largest city of Venezuela, and the center of the Metropolitan Region of Caracas (or Greater Caracas). Valencia () is the capital city of Carabobo State and the third-largest city in Venezuela. The city is an economic hub that contains Venezuela's top industries and manufacturing companies. Maracay
Maracay () is a city in north-central Venezuela, near the Caribbean coast, and is the capital and most important city of the state of Aragua.
