Café Du Tambourin
Café du Tambourin was a restaurant in Paris, France. Owned by Agostina Segatori, it was opened in December 1883 at 27 rue de Richelieu, and then in March 1885 relocated at 62 Boulevard de Clichy. Famous painter, Jules Chéret, made a poster for the Cabaret at the reopening. The Café had an original decor in which Segatori hung works given to her by Edourd Dantan. The cafe was frequented by the friends of Dantan and Van Gogh. In 1887, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec possibly created his 1887 portrait of Van Gogh at the Café du Tambourin. Cabaret des Quat'z'Arts ("cabaret of the four arts") was a venue at 62 Boulevard de Clichy, in Paris, France. The interdisciplinary mixture of the arts created avant-garde collaborative performances. Similar to Le Chat Noir, the Quat'z'Arts was a gathering place for artists, composers, musicians, performers, poets, illustrators, and theater critics, attracting newcomers such as Pablo Picasso and Apollinaire. It provided space for permanent and temporary art exhibits by the likes of Emile Cohl, Jules-Alexandre Grün, Charles Léandre, Georges Redon, Lucien-Victor Guirand de Scévola, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Louis Abel-Truchet, and Adolphe Willette. Émile Henri Bernard (; 28 April 1868 – 16 April 1941) was a French Post-Impressionist painter and writer, who had artistic friendships with Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin and Eugène Boch, and at a later time, Paul Cézanne. Louis Anquetin
Louis Émile Anquetin (26 January 1861 – 19 August 1932) was a French painting, painter. Biography Anquetin was born in Étrépagny, France, and educated at the Lycée Pierre Corneille (Rouen), Lycée Pierre Corneille in Rouen. In 1882 he came to Paris and began studying art at Léon Bonnat's studio, where he met Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The two artists later moved to the studio of Fernand Cormon, where they befriended Émile Bernard (painter), Émile Bernard and Vincent van Gogh. Around 1887, Anquetin and Bernard developed a painting style that used flat regions of color and thick, black contour outlines. Édouard Joseph Dantan (26 August 1848 – 7 July 1897) was a French painter in the classical tradition. He was widely recognized and successful, even receiving grudging respect from a contemporary Modernist painter and critic Walter Sickert. Biography Édouard Joseph Dantan was born on 26 August 1848 in Paris. His grandfather, who had fought in the Napoleonic Wars, was a wood sculptor. His father, Antoine Laurent Dantan, and uncle, Jean-Pierre Dantan, were both well-known sculptors.
