Cabinet Of Jóannes Eidesgaard II
The second cabinet of Jóannes Eidesgaard was the government of the Faroe Islands from 4 February until 26 September 2008. It was a coalition between Social Democratic Party (Faroe Islands), Social Democratic Party (SDP) (with Jóannes Eidesgaard as Prime Minister), Republic (Faroe Islands), Republic (R), Centre Party (Faroe Islands), Centre Party (CP). There were internal disagreements after a few months, especially about some offices in Tinganes (later referred to as ''Lásagølan'' which means ''The lock scandal'', something about changing of the lock of an office in the governmental administration), which resulted in Republic leaving the coalition on 15 September 2008, which created a government crisis.http://fiskeribladet.no/default.asp?side=101&lesmer=9170 fiskeribladet.no, Fiskeriministeren fikk fyken etter dørkrangel! Cabinet Of The Faroe Islands
The Cabinet of the Faroe Islands (Faroese: Føroya Landsstýri) has been the chief executive body and the government of the Faroe Islands since the islands became self-governing in 1948. The cabinet is led by the prime minister (''løgmaður''). There are around seven members of the Cabinet, known as "ministers" (landsstýrismaður or landsstýriskvinna), all of whom are also heads of specific government ministries. The ministers are appointed by the prime minister. The Faroese government currently consists of seven ministers including the prime minister. The Centre Party () is a Christian democracy, Christian democratic, conservative List of political parties on the Faroe Islands, political party on the Faroe Islands, led by Jenis av Rana. The party is known for its social conservatism, particularly its stance on LGBT rights. At the 2008 Faroese general election, the party won 8.4% of the popular vote and three out of 33 seats in the Løgting. In the 2011 Faroese general election, the party fell to 6.2% and two seats. Bjørt Samuelsen (2 March 1965) is a Faroese journalist, master in food science (Danish: ) and politician (Republic). Political career She was elected for the Løgting at the 2008 Faroese general election and again in 2011. She was not elected at the 2015 elections, but kept her seat in the parliament because Høgni Hoydal was appointed minister of fisheries. Samuelsen was Ministers of Trade and Industry from 4 February until 15 September 2008. She was the first female minister of trade and industry of the Faroe Islands and as of 2019 the only one. Kristina Háfoss
Kristina Háfoss (born ''Danielsen''; 26 June 1975) is a Faroese economist, lawyer, politician (Tjóðveldi) and former national swimmer for the Faroe Islands. She was Minister of Finance of the Faroe Islands from 2015–2019. She was elected for the Løgting again in 2019, but took leave from 1 February 2021 when she started in her new job as the Secretary-General of the Nordic Council. Background She lived in Copenhagen for the first four years of her life, while her father was studying and her mother was working. After that she grew up in the Faroe Islands, mostly in Argir, which today has grown together with Tórshavn. She is the daughter of John P. Óluva Klettskarð
Óluva Elin Klettskarð (born 24 June 1965) is a Faroese schoolteacher and politician. She was a member of the Løgting from 2015 to 2019. Early life and career Klettskarð was in Klaksvík on 24 June 1965, the daughter of Páll Klettskarð from Haraldssund and his wife Edith (born Stenberg) from Porkeri. The parents ran their own business in Klaksvík, and the father later became a fishing boat owner. From 1991 to 1996, she attended the University of the Faroe Islands, obtaining a degree in history and Nordic philology. Since 1997, she has been a teacher at Føroya Studentaskúli og HF-Skeið in Tórshavn.
