Attachment (painting)
''Attachment'' is an 1829 oil painting by the English artist Edwin Landseer. It illustrates a scene inspired by the Scottish writer Walter Scott's 1805 poem ''Helvellyn''. It portrays a young man who fell and died while climbing the mountain of that name in the Lake District. His faithful terrier continued to stand guard while his body still lay undiscovered. It was part of a developing theme in romantic art demonstrating a dog's love for a man in the face of death, including Landseer's 1830 diploma work, diploma piece for the Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Academy ''A Faithful Hound''. The work was displayed at the Royal Academy Exhibition of 1830 at Somerset House in London. Today the painting is in the collection of the Saint Louis Art Museum in Missouri. References Bibliography

Attachment (law)
Attachment is a legal process by which a court of law, at the request of a creditor, designates specific property owned by the debtor to be transferred to the creditor, or sold for the benefit of the creditor. A wide variety of legal mechanisms are employed by debtors to prevent the attachment of their assets. Prejudgment attachment Prejudgment attachment or Prejudgment writ of attachment allows recovery of money damages by levying a security interest on the property of the party paying money damages. A writ of attachment is filed to secure debt or claim of the creditor in the event that a judgment is rendered. Foreign attachment procedures have existed from time to time in Scotland, where it was known as ''arrestment''; in France, where it was known as '' saisie arret''; in the U.S and elsewhere. (Google Books) Prejudgment attachment in Chinese litigation proceeding can be obtained by the plaintiff before filing the case with court or arbitration commission in the case of emergen ...

Attachment Of Earnings
Attachment of earnings is a legal process in civil litigation by which a defendant's wages or other earnings are taken to pay for a debt. This collections process is used in the common law system, especially Britain and the United States, but in other legal regimes as well. '' Ballentine's Law Dictionary'' notes that this process is not literal, whereby a "person's property is figuratively brought into the court." United Kingdom In England, an attachment of earning order can stop money being paid to a defendant. Under English law, somebody who is self-employed, unemployed, or a member of the armed forces cannot have an attachment against them. In England, the District Council can attach earnings. United States At present four U.S. states — North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Texas — do not allow wage garnishment at all except for debts related to taxes, child support, federally guaranteed student loans, and court-ordered fines or restitution for a crime the d ...

Rule B Attachment
Rule B attachments are issued under Rule B of the ''Supplemental Rules for Certain Admiralty and Maritime Claims'' of the ''Federal Rules of Civil Procedure''. Under that provision, the court is allowed to attach a defendant's property up to the value of the suit. Although these claims are filed during ''in personam'' actions, they are ''in rem'' in nature, as the Court is attaching property to the suit. This has been described as a "remedy ''quasi in rem''." The Rule B procedure is in addition to the ''in rem'' procedure for arresting vessels that is available under Rule C. History Attachment under Rule B is similar to the procedure of ''saisie conservatoire'' available under French law. It has its origins in the former British procedure of admiralty attachment, which was still in existence at the time of the American Revolution but fell into disuse in the United Kingdom at the end of the 18th Century. Maritime attachments were formally recognized by the Supreme Court of the Un ...

Ball Attachment (dentistry)
A ball attachment is a dental component commonly used in implant-retained and tooth-supported overdentures to enhance prosthetic retention, stability, and function. It consists of a ball-shaped male abutment that fits into a corresponding female housing, creating a mechanical connection that allows controlled movement while maintaining secure placement. Design and Components Ball attachments function as precision mechanical retention devices in dental prostheses. They typically consist of: * Male Component (Ball Abutment) – A spherical attachment fixed onto a dental implant, a natural tooth root, or a bar structure. It is available in various sizes and materials, including titanium and gold-plated alloys. * Female Component (Housing and Retentive Insert) – A socket-like structure embedded within the denture, often lined with a replaceable retentive insert made of nylon or other resilient materials. The insert provides flexibility and retention, gripping the ball abutment secure ...

Excavator
Excavators are heavy equipment (construction), heavy construction equipment primarily consisting of a backhoe, boom, dipper (or stick), Bucket (machine part), bucket, and cab on a rotating platform known as the "house". The modern excavator's house sits atop an undercarriage with Caterpillar track, tracks or wheels, being an evolution of the steam shovel (which itself evolved into the power shovel when steam was replaced by diesel and electric power). All excavation-related movement and functions of a hydraulic excavator are accomplished through the use of hydraulic fluid, with hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic motors, which replaced winches, chains, and steel ropes. Another principle change was the direction of the digging action, with modern excavators pulling their buckets toward them like a dragline rather than pushing them away to fill them the way the first powered shovels did. Terminology Excavators are also called diggers, scoopers, mechanical shovels, or 360-degree ex ...

Pilot (train Attachment)
A cowcatcher, also known as a pilot, is the device mounted at the front of a locomotive to deflect obstacles on the track that might otherwise damage or derail it or the train. In the UK, small metal bars called ''life-guards'', ''rail guards'' or ''guard irons'' are provided immediately in front of the wheels. They knock away smaller obstacles lying directly on the running surface of the railhead. Historically, fenced-off railway systems in Europe relied exclusively on those devices and cowcatchers were not required, but in modern systems cowcatchers have generally superseded them. Instead of a cowcatcher, trams use a device called a fender. Objects lying on the tram track come in contact with a sensor bracket, which triggers the lowering of a basket-shaped device to the ground, preventing the overrunning of the obstacles and pushing them along the road surface in front of the wheels. In snowy areas the cowcatcher also has the function of a snowplow. Invention An idea for ...

Rental Accessories And Attachments
Rental accessories and attachments are additional equipment that supports a larger piece of equipment. When dealing with heavy and specialized equipment, they are typically referred to as attachments. Others tend to be referred to as accessories. Types Attachments or accessories can be mandatory, usually because they are essential to the smooth running of the machine, for example a rotary tool requires a point or attachment to function. They may also be optional; for example, when renting a car, child safety seats are optional. Many rental items have hidden or embedded accessories or attachments; for example, rental cars are typically supplied with a full tank of fuel. Effectively the fuel tank is an embedded accessory. Some accessories may be consumables, for example dust masks and sanding belts may accompany a floor sander. In this case, the consumables may be billed upfront, or may be supplied on a sale or return basis where the rental company charges based on the unuse ...

AT Attachment
Parallel ATA (PATA), originally , also known as Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE), is a standard interface designed for IBM PC-compatible computers. It was first developed by Western Digital and Compaq in 1986 for compatible hard drives and CD or DVD drives. The connection is used for storage devices such as hard disk drives, floppy disk drives, optical disc drives, and tape drives in computers. The standard is maintained by the X3/INCITS committee. It uses the underlying (ATA) and Packet Interface ( ATAPI) standards. The Parallel ATA standard is the result of a long history of incremental technical development, which began with the original AT Attachment interface, developed for use in early PC AT equipment. The ATA interface itself evolved in several stages from Western Digital's original Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) interface. As a result, many near-synonyms for ATA/ATAPI and its previous incarnations are still in common informal use, in particular Extended ID ...
