2017–18 Liga MX Season
The 2017–18 Liga MX season (known as the Liga BBVA Bancomer MX for sponsorship reasons) was the 71st professional season of the top-flight football league in Mexico. The season is split into two championships—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each in an identical format and each contested by the same eighteen teams. Chiapas was relegated to the Ascenso MX after accumulating the lowest coefficient last season, and were replaced by the Ascenso MX Clausura 2017 champion Lobos BUAP, who won promotion after defeating the Ascenso MX Apertura 2016 champion Dorados de Sinaloa in the 2016–17 Ascenso MX Promotion Final. Liga MX
Liga MX, also known as Liga BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Mexico and the highest level of the Mexican football league system. Formerly known as Liga Mayor (1943–1949) and also as Primera División de México (1949–2012), it has 18 participating clubs, with each season divided into two short tournaments, ''Apertura'' from July to December and ''Clausura'' from January to May. The champions are decided by a final phase called ''"liguilla"''. Since 2020, promotion and relegation has been suspended, which is to last until 2026. The league currently ranks first in CONCACAF's league ranking index. Club Puebla
Club Puebla is a Mexican professional Association football, football club based in Puebla (city), Puebla. It competes in Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football league system, Mexican football. Founded in 1944 as Puebla Fútbol Club, and then changed to its current name in 2016. Nicknamed ''La Franja'' ("The Striped Ones"), the team shirt features a diagonal stripe (traditionally blue on white on the home kit, and a combination of different colors on the away kits) that crosses the chest diagonally from right to left, which is considered a distinctive element of its identity. 2016–17 Ascenso MX Season
The 2016–17 Ascenso MX season is a two-part competition: Apertura 2016 began on 15 July 2016 and Clausura 2017. Ascenso MX is the second-tier football league of Mexico. All Ascenso MX teams except UAEM, U. de C., Tampico Madero, Correcaminos, Zacatepec and Sonora, will participate in Copa MX. The fixtures were announced on 9 June 2016. Ascenso MX
Ascenso MX, also known as Ascenso BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons, was a professional association football league in Mexico and the second level of the Mexican football league system. Formerly known as Primera División A de México (1994–2009) and also as Liga de Ascenso (2009–2012). The champions of the competition was promoted to Liga MX (top level), and the bottom team was relegated to Liga Premier (third level). In 2012, the league rebranded its name and competition format as Ascenso MX, the major changes (clubs do not need a FMF certification to be promoted and that the competition no longer used group stages). Ascenso MX was replaced by Liga de Expansión MX on April 17, 2020. Club Atlas
Atlas Fútbol Club is a Mexican professional football club based in Guadalajara. The club currently plays in Liga MX, the top division of Mexican football. The club was founded in 1916, it plays home matches at Estadio Jalisco. Atlas has won three league titles and four domestic cups.
