Bundock, Queensland
Bundock is an abandoned rural town in the Shire of Richmond, Queensland, Australia. The town is within the locality of Maxwelton. Geography The town is just south of O'Connell Creek. Bundock was (and still is) at the midpoint of a stock route between the towns of Maxwelton and Richmond. There are 10 half-acre town lots, but there are no buildings nor signs of any development. History The town was surveyed by Frank A. Gorringe on 14 December 1899 and gazetted as a town on 10 February 1900. Bundock is named after horse breeder Wellington Cochrane Bundock (1812-1898). Electoral District Of Traeger
Traeger is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution, and was named after Alfred Traeger, inventor of the pedal-powered radio, which was a significant contribution to people living in remote and rural communities in Queensland, such as those within Traeger. It takes in most of the urbanised portions of the abolished districts of Mount Isa and Dalrymple. It includes the local government areas of Burke, Doomadgee, Carpentaria, Croydon, Etheridge, Charters Towers, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, McKinlay, Richmond and Flinders. From results of the previous 2015 election, Traeger was estimated to be a safe seat for the Katter's Australian Party with a margin of 16.1%. The Division of Kennedy is an Australian electoral division in the state of Queensland. History The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election. It is named after Edmund Kennedy, an explorer in the area where the division is located in Queensland. The member since 1993 is Bob Katter Jr., the leader of Katter's Australian Party. He was previously elected as a member of the National Party, but became an independent in 2001 before forming his own party in 2011. Geographically, the electorate is rural. Geography The locality is bounded to the north by the Flinders River. The town of Maxwelton is located in the north of the locality. A stock route, also known as travelling stock route (TSR), is an authorised thoroughfare for the walking of domestic livestock such as sheep or cattle from one location to another in Australia. The stock routes across the country are colloquially known as The Long Paddock or Long Paddock. A travelling stock route may often be distinguished from an ordinary country road by the fact that the grassy verges on either side of the road are very much wider, and the property fences being set back much further from the roadside than is usual, or open stretches of unfenced land. The reason for this is so that the livestock may feed on the vegetation that grows on the verges as they travel, especially in times of drought.
