Brüggen () is a municipality in the district of Viersen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. RAF Bruggen
Royal Air Force Brüggen, more commonly known as RAF Brüggen, in Germany was a Royal Air Force station until 15 June 2001. It was situated next to the village of Elmpt, approximately west of Düsseldorf on the Dutch–German border. The base was named after the village of Brüggen, the nearest rail depot. Construction began in mid-1952, which involved the clearing of forest and draining of marshland. The station became active in 1953 during the rapid expansion of NATO forces in Europe. The main paint shop situated next to the main runway was responsible for the surface finishing of all aircraft, ground equipment and RAF Regiment Rapier missile systems. In 2002, it was handed over to the British Army and renamed Javelin Barracks. 317 Supply and Transport Column In 1953, the 317 Supply and Transport Column arrived at RAF Brüggen from Uetersen. Brüggen Glacier
Brüggen Glacier, also known as Pío XI Glacier named by Spanish explorers after a Pope, is in southern Chile and is the largest western outflow from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Now about in length, it is the longest glacier in the southern hemisphere outside Antarctica.In the northern hemisphere, Tajikistan's Fedchenko Glacier is 77 km long. In the Karakoram Mountains, Siachen Glacier is 76 km long, Biafo Glacier is 67 km long, Baltoro is 63 km long, and Baltura is 57 km long. Kyrgyzstan's South Inylchek (Enylchek) Glacier is 60.5 km in length. None in the southern hemisphere outside of Antarctica and Bruggen Glacier approach this length. Daniël Brüggen
Daniël Brüggen (born 1958) is a Dutch recorder player. He is the nephew of Frans Brüggen and studied with Kees Boeke at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. In 1978 he founded, together with Bertho Driever, Paul Leenhouts, and Karel van Steenhoven, the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet, which was disbanded in 2007. He teaches at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Royal Academy of Music. Frans Brüggen
Franciscus ("Frans") Jozef Brüggen (30 October 1934 – 13 August 2014) was a Dutch Conducting, conductor, recorder player and baroque flautist. Biography Born in Amsterdam, Brüggen was the youngest of the nine children of August Brüggen, a textile factory owner, and his wife Johanna (née Verkley), an amateur singer. He studied recorder (musical instrument), recorder and flute at the Amsterdam Muzieklyceum. He also studied musicology at the University of Amsterdam. In 1955, at the age of 21, he was appointed professor at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. His reputation was initially as a recorder and Baroque flute virtuoso, and he commissioned several works for recorder including Luciano Berio's ''Gesti'' (1965).J.M.
