Daniël Brüggen
Daniël Brüggen (born 1958) is a Dutch recorder player. He is the nephew of Frans Brüggen and studied with Kees Boeke at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. In 1978 he founded, together with Bertho Driever, Paul Leenhouts, and Karel van Steenhoven, the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet, which was disbanded in 2007. He teaches at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Royal Academy of Music. Royal Conservatory Of The Hague
The Royal Conservatoire (, KC) is a conservatoire in The Hague, providing higher education in music and dance. The conservatoire was founded by King William I in 1826, making it the oldest conservatoire in the Netherlands. Bussum
Bussum () is a commuter town and former municipality in the Gooi region in the south east of the province of North Holland in the Netherlands near Hilversum. Since 2016, Bussum has been part of the new municipality of Gooise Meren. Bussum had a population of 33,595 in 2019 and covered an area of . History For a long time Bussum was a hamlet situated in the heathlands of the Gooi and was first mentioned in 1306. At this time, Bussum was shown on maps as a large heathland with many small farms, sheep pens and forests. Since Bussum was situated near the fortified town of Naarden it was governed by Naarden from 1369. In 1470 Bussum had about 250 inhabitants, which made it the smallest village in the Gooi. The Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London, England, is one of the oldest music schools in the UK, founded in 1822 by John Fane and Nicolas-Charles Bochsa. Karel Van Steenhoven
Karel van Steenhoven (born November 1958 in Voorburg) is a Dutch recorder player and composer. Biography Starting with a green plastic instrument when he was four years old, Steenhoven began to study recorder with a guitar and mandolin teacher. Later, he studied recorder with Kees Boeke at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. After completing his graduate recital in 1983, he studied composition with Robert Heppener and Tristan Keuris. Career He was a founding member of the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet in 1978, along with Daniël Brüggen, Bertho Driever and Paul Leenhouts. Steenhoven has also worked with the Musica Antiqua Köln, The Academy of Ancient Music, the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. Paul Leenhouts
Paul Leenhouts is a Dutch recorder player, composer and conductor. Leenhouts studied music at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. Together with Daniël Brüggen, Bertho Driever, and Karel van Steenhoven, he founded the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet in 1978. He is a composer and arranger of several works for recorder. In 1986 he started the Holland Open Recorder Festival in Utrecht, and has been director of the International Baroque Institute in Boston.
