Bruce Walker (politician, Born 1897)
(Ronald) Bruce Walker (7 December 1897 – 1981) was an Australian politician. Early life He was born at Windsor, New South Wales, Windsor, to Lucinda Isabel Rowthorn and Bruce Walker (politician, born 1870), (Robert) Bruce Walker, who was also a politician. Ronald attended Sydney Grammar School and was admitted as a solicitor in 1925. On 19 December 1923 he married Muriel Smith, with whom he had a son. He joined the family law firm, William Walker & Son, becoming a senior partner in 1932. Member of parliament In 1932 he succeeded his father in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the United Australia Party member for Electoral district of Hawkesbury, Hawkesbury. He was re-elected in 1935, and 1938, serving until 1941. Conspiracy conviction In August 1939 he was arrested and charged with conspiracy to defraud members of the public in connection with the Scottish Loan and Finance Company of which he was a director. Windsor is a historic town north-west of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is the council seat of the Hawkesbury local government area. Frank Finnan
Francis Joseph Finnan (23 September 1897 – 21 March 1966) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1941 until 1953. He was a member of the Labor Party and held numerous ministerial positions between 1947 and 1953. Early life and career Finnan was born in The Rocks and was educated at St Aloysius' College (Sydney). He initially worked as a shearer in Queensland and was an official in the Australian Workers' Union. By 1930, Finnan had returned to Sydney and was involved in the management of Labor papers including ''Common Cause'' and the ''Labor Daily''. Political career He was elected to the New South Wales Parliament as the Labor member for Hawkesbury at the 1941 state election. The sitting United Australia Party member, Bruce Walker Jr, didn't stand as he was on trial for conspiracy charges, and Finnan's victory helped Labor gain a majority at the election.
