Brive-la-Gaillarde–Toulouse (via Capdenac) Railway
The Brive-la-Gaillarde - Toulouse (via Capdenac) railway is a 248-kilometre French railway line that connects the rural areas between Brive-la-Gaillarde and the large southern city of Toulouse via Figeac and Capdenac. The railway was opened in several stages between 1858 and 1864. Route The Brive-la-Gaillarde–Toulouse railway leaves the Brive-la-Gaillarde station in a southeastern direction, towards Saint-Denis-près-Martel station. Here, the line to Aurillac station leaves in an easterly direction and the preserved line to Martel in a westerly direction. The line soon crosses the River Dordogne and follows the valley for a short while before it opens out into flat land. The Figeac station is on two curves, where the line from Aurillac station joins. Shortly after leaving Figeac the railway travels through a 1.3 km tunnel and then travels alongside the River Lot and the preserved railway from Cahors joins; but this line has been disused since 2003. Figeac Station
Figeac is a railway station in Figeac, Occitania (administrative region), Occitanie, France. The station is a ''keilbahnhof'', situated at the junction of the Brive-la-Gaillarde - Toulouse (via Capdenac) railway, Brive–Toulouse (via Capdenac) railway and Figeac–Arvant railway lines. The station is served by Intercités de nuit (night train) and Transport express régional, TER (local) services operated by SNCF. The station was mostly destroyed by a fire of mysterious origin overnight the 21-22 of November 2018. Despite the efforts of around fifty firefighters from Figeac and surrounding areas, the station's smoke-stained walls were pretty much all that remained standing. An inquiry ruled the fire as "accidental," but questions remain. Reconstruction of the station began in 2021, and it re-opened to passengers in 2023. Lexos Station
Lexos is a railway station in Varen, Tarn-et-Garonne, Occitanie, France. It is on the Brive-Toulouse (via Capdenac) line and is served by TER (local) services operated by SNCF. Montauban
Montauban (, ; ) is a commune in the southern French department of Tarn-et-Garonne. It is the capital of the department and lies north of Toulouse. Tarn (river)
The Tarn (; , , possibly meaning 'rapid' or 'walled in') is a long river in the administrative region of Occitania in southern France. It is a right tributary of the Garonne. The Tarn runs in a roughly westerly direction, from its source at an elevation of on Mont Lozère in the Cévennes mountains (part of the Massif Central), through the deep gorges and canyons of the Gorges du Tarn that cuts through the Causse du Larzac, to Moissac in Tarn-et-Garonne, where it joins the Garonne, downstream from the centre of town. Albi Station
Albi (; ) is a commune in southern France. It is the prefecture of the Tarn department, on the river Tarn, 85 km northeast of Toulouse. Its inhabitants are called ''Albigensians'' (, ).
