Bogusław Nowak
Bogusław Nowak (29 January 1952 – 10 July 2024) was a Polish international speedway rider. Speedway career Although he did not ride in Britain, he toured the United Kingdom during Poland's 1973 tour when the Poles created significant interest over their fearless riding styles. Nowak won a silver medal at the Speedway World Team Cup in the 1977 Speedway World Team Cup. He also stood as reserve for the 1977 Individual Speedway World Championship after finishing eighth in the Continental final. In 1988, Nowak was involved in an accident while racing, which left him confined to a wheelchair. Nowak died on 10 July 2024. Gorzów Wielkopolski
Gorzów Wielkopolski (), often abbreviated to Gorzów Wlkp. or simply Gorzów (formerly ), is a city in Geography of Poland, western Poland, located on the Warta, Warta River. The Olympic Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Wrocław, Poland. It is the home stadium of Motorcycle speedway, speedway team Sparta Wrocław and American football team Panthers Wrocław. The stadium has a capacity now of 11,000 people and was supposed to be one of the main pitches on UEFA Euro 2012. Jerzy Rembas (born 18 April 1956 in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He earned 40 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Marek Kazimierz Cieślak (born 28 June 1950) is a former speedway rider and current coach. He earned 29 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Cieślak rode two seasons in the British leagues after joining White City Rebels for the 1977 British League season. Cieślak won a second consecutive silver medal at the Speedway World Team Cup in the 1977 Speedway World Team Cup. In 2007 he was a manager of Poland national team. Poland won Speedway World Cup and Team U-21 World Championship. Edward 'Ed' Jancarz (20 August 1946 – 11 January 1992) was a Polish international Motorcycle speedway, speedway rider. He earned 76 international caps for the Poland speedway team. Career Jancarz participated in ten Speedway World Championship finals, his highest placing being in his first final in 1968, when he finished on the rostrum in third place after a run-off with Russian rider Gennady Kurilenko. 1977 Individual Speedway World Championship
The 1977 Individual Speedway World Championship was the 32nd edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. History was made in the 1977 final when Ivan Mauger of New Zealand equalled Ove Fundin's title record of five World Championship wins. Mauger had gone close to equalling the record before and finally achieved it in Sweden, the home of Fundin. In a decisive 18th heat Mauger won from his nearest challenger Ole Olsen, when Olsen was forced to lay his bike down to avoid hitting John Boulger. The result was just one point for Olsen, a badly damaged Jawa bike and the end of his title hopes. Defending champion Peter Collins won his last ride to claim the silver medal despite riding with a broken left leg, but Olsen won the bronze medal run-off against young English rider Michael Lee.
