Pieter Jeremias Blignaut
Pieter Jeremias Blignaut (26 June 1841, in Paarl – 1 November 1909, in Bloemfontein) was a South African (Boer) civil servant, Government Secretary of the Orange Free State (1879–1902), and served twice as Presidents of the Orange Free State, Acting State President, first after the death of Johannes Brand, President Brand (1888–1889), and again after the resignation of Francis William Reitz, President Reitz in 1895–1896. After the conclusion of the South African War, Blignaut served as member of both the legislative council and the Legislative Assembly of the Orange River Colony. Alex Blignaut
Alex Blignaut (30 November 1932 – 15 January 2001) was a racing driver and motor racing team owner from South Africa. Career Blignaut raced locally in South Africa for many years and made two appearances in the Formula One Rand Grand Prix under the "Team Valencia" banner, in 1963 and 1964, finishing 12th on both occasions. He also entered the 1965 South African Grand Prix, a World Championship event, but withdrew before the meeting took place. He later turned to team ownership, setting up the "Alex Blignaut Racing Team" and entering cars in the South African Formula One Championship throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, earning many race wins. Among the drivers who competed for Blignaut were Eddie Keizan and Ian Scheckter. Keizan also drove Blignaut's Tyrrell 004 in the World Championship South African Grands Prix in 1973 and 1974. Dylan Alexander Blignaut (born 8 April 1995) is a South African-born cricketer who plays for the Germany national team. Blignaut represented Eastern Province in under-17s before spending two summers in 2014 and 2015 playing club cricket in England for Vauxhall Mallards in the East Anglian Premier Cricket League and then for Shobrooke Park in the Devon Cricket League. After a successful season with Brighton Districts in Melbourne, Australia, Blignaut was signed by North County Cricket Club to play in the Leinster Senior League in Ireland. Arnoldus Mauritius Blignaut (born 1 August 1978) is a Zimbabwean former cricketer, who played all formats of the game. He was a right-arm fast-medium bowler, also known as a hard-hitting batsman in ODIs, where he frequently scored a fast rate; though he was seldom able to sustain this form and keeping his wicket intact through many overs. He more often played ODIs, where many runs in a short time are desired, than Tests. International career On his Test debut, he took five wickets in the first innings against Bangladesh in Bulawayo in 2001. Toek Blignaut (17 May 1922 – 5 January 2007) was a South African writer. She wrote over 80 books and 200 short stories. She interviewed heart surgeon Christiaan Barnard and she made the first interview with Rain Queen Mokope Modjadji. Blignaut was an agony aunt at the Afrikaans teenage magazine '' Rooi Rose'' where she rose to be vice-editor. Life Blignaut was born in Bloemfontein in 1922 as Johanna Marthina Sophia Venter. Aegidius (died 464 or 465) was the ruler of the short-lived Kingdom of Soissons from 461 to 464/465. Before his ascension he was an ardent supporter of the Western Roman emperor Majorian, who appointed him ''magister militum per Gallias'' ("Master of the Soldiers for Gaul") in 458. After the general Ricimer assassinated Majorian and replaced him with Emperor Libius Severus, Aegidius rebelled and began governing his Gallic territory as an independent kingdom. He may have pledged his allegiance to the Eastern Roman emperor Leo I. Aegidius repeatedly threatened to invade Italy and dethrone Libius Severus, but never actually launched such an invasion; historians have suggested he was unwilling to launch an invasion due to the pressure of the Visigoths, or else because it would leave Gaul exposed.
