Bernadett Szél
Dr. Bernadett Szél (born 9 March 1977) is a Hungarian economist and politician, and was a member of the National Assembly (MP) between 2012 and 2022. She was co-President of the Politics Can Be Different (''Lehet Más a Politika''; LMP) party from 2013 to 2018, and its candidate for the position of Prime Minister during the 2018 parliamentary election. Between 2018 and 2022 she became an independent parliamentarian. As of 2022 she works as researcher and consultant. She is married and lives in Budakeszi with her husband and three children. Global climate protection and dedication to the green agenda, commitment to democracy and democratic Hungary, and equality of rights are consistently the main driving forces throughout her professional life. 2010 Hungarian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary on 11 and 25 April 2010 to elect the members of the National Assembly. They were the sixth free elections since the end of the communist era. 386 Members of Parliament (MPs) were elected in a combined system of party lists and electoral constituencies. Electoral law in Hungary requires candidates to gather 500 signatures from citizens supporting their candidacy. In the first round of the elections, the conservative party Fidesz won the absolute majority of seats, enough to form a government on its own. In the second round, the alliance of Fidesz and the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) won enough seats to achieve a two-thirds majority required to modify major laws and the country's constitution. Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance (; ) is a national-conservative political party in Hungary led by Viktor Orbán. It has increasingly identified as illiberal. Originally formed in 1988 under the name of Alliance of Young Democrats () as a centre-left and liberal activist movement that opposed the ruling Marxist–Leninist government. László Kövér
László Kövér (; born 29 December 1959) is a Hungarian politician who is the current List of speakers of the National Assembly (Hungary), speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary. Under his capacity as speaker, he was also twice acting president of Hungary in 2012 after the Pál Schmitt academic misconduct controversy, resignation of Pál Schmitt, and again in 2024 after the Katalin Novák presidential pardon scandal, resignation of Katalin Novák. A founding member of Fidesz since 1988, he served as Minister of Civilian Intelligence Services (Hungary), Minister without portfolio for Civilian Intelligence Services during the first Viktor Orbán administration. Roșia Montană Project
Roșia Montană Project was a proposed gold and silver mine in Roșia Montană, Romania. If approved, it would have become Europe's largest open-pit gold mine and it would have used the gold cyanidation mining technique. The project met with widespread protests in 2013 that indefinitely delayed the project, which saw its end in 2021, when Roșia Montană became a part of the UNESCO World Heritage list and was also included in the List of World Heritage in Danger. Following these measures, any mining activity in Roșia Montană is prohibited in the future. The project was majority-owned by Canadian mining company Gabriel Resources (with 80.46%) and by state mining company Minvest Deva (19.31%) and other minority shareholders. Dr. Zoltán Illés (born 17 January 1961) is a Hungarian chemical engineer and politician, member of the National Assembly of Hungary (MP) for Terézváros, 6th District of Budapest (Budapest Constituency VIII) from 2010 to 2014.
