Bergen is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Bergen had a population of 68 people. Neuve is a neighbourhood in the south-west of the locality. Geography Neuve is a neighbourhood () within the south-west of locality. It takes its name from a former railway station. History The Haden railway line from Kingsthorpe to Goobungee and Haden opened in 1910 with Bergen being served by a station called ''Bergenside'' (). In 1914 a cemetery was established, operated by a group of trustees. The cemetery had separate sections for a number of religious denominations (Anglican, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist) and a general section. In 1982 responsibility for the cemetery was given to the Crows Nest Shire Council, and became the responsibility of the Toowoomba Regional Council following the local government amalgamations in 2008. Battle Of Neuve Chapelle
The Battle of Neuve Chapelle (10–13 March 1915) took place in the First World War in the Artois region of France. The attack was intended to cause a rupture in the German lines, which would then be exploited with a rush to the Aubers Ridge and possibly Lille. A French assault at Vimy Ridge on the Artois plateau was also planned to threaten the road, rail and canal junctions at La Bassée from the south as the British attacked from the north. The British attackers broke through German defences in a salient at the village of Neuve-Chapelle but the success could not be exploited. Neuve-Chapelle ( vls, Nieuwkappel) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. It was the site of a First World War battle in 1915. Geography Neuve-Chapelle is situated some northeast of Béthune and southwest of Lille, near the junction of the D947 and D171 roads. The Shire of Rosalie was a local government area in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia, immediately northwest of the regional city of Toowoomba. The shire, administered from the town of Goombungee, covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1879 until 2008.
