Berfin Şengül
Berfin Şengül (born 20 August 2002) is a Turkish curler from Erzincan, Turkey. She currently plays lead on the Turkey women's national curling team skipped by Dilşat Yıldız. Career Şengül played third on the Turkish team that represented the nation at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Champéry, Switzerland. Her team, with skip Selahattin Eser, fourth Kadir Polat and lead İfayet Şafak Çalıkuşu finished 2–3 through the round robin, not enough to advance to the playoff round. She then competed with Olle Moberg of Sweden in the mixed doubles event. The pair won their first game, before losing in the round of twenty-four, eliminating them from contention. In 2022, she was set to skip the Turkey women's junior team at the 2022 World Junior-B Curling Championships before the event was cancelled due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases in the men's event. Curling at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics took place at the Palladium de Champéry in Champéry, Switzerland from 10 to 22 January 2020. The curling competition has been expanded, to allow for a further eight mixed teams to qualify, meaning a total of 96 curlers from 24 nations qualified to compete. Leeuwarden (; ; ; ) is a List of cities in the Netherlands by province, city and Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in Friesland, Netherlands, with a population of 127,073 (2023). 2022 World Women's Curling Championship
The 2022 World Women's Curling Championship (branded as the 2022 BKT Tires & OK Tire World Women's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was held from March 19 to 27 at the CN Centre in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. Prince George was originally chosen to host the 2020 World Women's Curling Championship, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The format for the Championship returned to a 13 team round robin opposed to the 14 teams qualified for the 2021 World Women's Curling Championship. 2021 European Curling Championships
The 2021 European Curling Championships were held in September and November 2021, to qualify European curling teams for the 2022 World Curling Championships and World Qualification Event. The A and B division competitions were held from November 20 to 27 in Lillehammer, Norway. The C division competition was held from September 12 to 17 in Geneva, Switzerland. The top eight men's teams qualified for the 2022 World Men's Curling Championship. The Olympic qualification event (branded as the 2021 Olympic Qualification Event presented by Asito for sponsorship reasons) is an international curling tournament that was held from 5–18 December 2021 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. The first international curling tournament to be hosted by the Netherlands, the event was the final qualifier for curling at the 2022 Winter Olympics, and was established as part of changes to the qualification process necessitated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
