Berens River, Manitoba
Berens River is located in Manitoba, Canada, along the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg. This community is near the mouth of the Berens River, which flows west from the Ontario headwaters. Prior to 2017, the community was accessible only by winter road, boat, or airplane. In 2010, a project to construct an all-weather road from Bloodvein, connecting Berens River to the provincial road system, was announced. Road construction was completed in December 2017, linking the two communities to Provincial Road 304. The First Nation and fur trade community there was officially started in the 19th century, but the spot was a traditional hunting and fishing area for thousands of years. The two communities create a population centre also called Berens River. Both are served by the Berens River Airport. Lake Winnipeg

Berens River
The Berens River is a river in the provinces of Manitoba and Ontario, Canada. It flows west from an unnamed lake in Kenora District, Ontario, and discharges its waters into Lake Winnipeg near the community and First Nation of Berens River, Manitoba. The river has a number of lakes along its course, and many rapids. History The river has been a First Nations traditional hunting and fishing area for thousands of years. It was first travelled by European explorers in 1767, who descended the river to Lake Winnipeg after having crossed over from the Severn River. The river was named for Joseph Berens, then governor or the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). Bloodvein First Nation
The Bloodvein First Nation is a First Nations community located on the east side of Lake Winnipeg, along the Bloodvein River in Manitoba, Canada. There are many caribou, bears, wolves, bald eagles, lynx, owls, and various species of fish in the area. The river and surroundings is the traditional land use area for the Ojibwa people. The area is served by Bloodvein River Airport. History This area is a part of Treaty 5, and has long been inhabited by Indigenous peoples. The name ''Bloodvein'' was used in an 1818–19 Hudson's Bay Company journal. The name originates from a major battle between the tribe inhabiting the mouth of the river and one of the neighboring tribes, where blood flowed into the river. Provincial Road 304 (PR 304) is a provincial road in eastern Manitoba, Canada. It begins at PTH 59/ PTH 12 south of Grand Beach and runs to Powerview-Pine Falls at the PTH 11 junction. Near the town, PR 304 crosses the Winnipeg River at the Pine Falls Generating Station, operated by Manitoba Hydro. From there, PR 304 heads north and then east to the community of Bissett, before terminating at Provincial Road 314 near the northern boundary of Nopiming Provincial Park.
