''Love in Another Language'' () is a 2009 Turkish drama film directed by İlksen Başarır, starring Mert Fırat as a young deaf man who falls in love with a call-center worker. The film, which went on nationwide general release on , won awards at film festivals in Antalya, Bursa and Ankara as well as the 3rd Yeşilçam Awards. Production The film was shot on location in Istanbul, Turkey. Plot Onur, who has been deaf since birth, works as a librarian. His father had left him and his mother when he was seven, and Onur has always blamed himself for this. Although being able to speak, he has chosen to stay silent because of the pitying looks of the people around him. At his friend Vedat's engagement party, he meets Zeynep, who later finds out about Onur's hearing disability, but is not bothered by it. 21st Ankara International Film Festival
The 21st Ankara International Film Festival was a film festival held in Ankara, Turkey that ran from March 11 to 21, 2010. This edition of the Ankara Film Festival, organized by The World Mass Media Research Foundation and accredited by FIPRESCI, opened with a gala on the evening of March 10 at the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall, at which the foundation special awards were presented, and closed with a screening of '' The Dust of Time'' () directed by Theodoros Angelopoulos. 11 films competed in the National Feature Competition, 28 films competed in the National Short Film Competition under fiction, experimental and animation categories and 17 films competed in the National Documentary Film Competition under amateur and professional categories. Mert Fırat
Şahabettin Mert Fırat (born 10 January 1981) is a Turkish actor and screenwriter. Life His father is singer Nihat Fırat. After finishing high school, he studied radio and television broadcasting in Sweden. He then returned to Ankara and took acting classes in Ankara University. Fırat graduated from the theatre department of Ankara University and took his master's degree in Film and Drama from Kadir Has University. He founded the "Moda Theatre" and "Das Das" in Istanbul, and "Sanat Mahal" in Bursa. He has appeared in more than fifteen films since 2005 and has won many awards. In October 2017 the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey chose Fırat as a Goodwill Ambassador in Turkey.
