Aghjabadi District
Aghjabadi District () is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the centre of the country and belongs to the Karabakh Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Khojavend, Agdam, Barda, Zardab, Beylagan, and Fuzuli. Its capital and largest city is Aghjabadi. As of 2020, the district had a population of 136,800. History Aghjabadi district was established on 8 August 1930. It was abolished and attached to the Aghdam District in 1963. Two years later, it was re-established as an independent district. "Aghjabadi" means "large settlement" ("aghja" – large, "badi" – residence, settlement) in Azerbaijani. The ancient monuments discovered on the territory of Aghjabadi rayon attest to human habitation dating to the Eneolithic, Bronze Age periods. Uzeyir Hajibeyov
Uzeyir bey Abdulhuseyn bey oghlu Hajibeyov (18 September 188523 November 1948) was an Azerbaijanis, Azerbaijani composer, musicologist and teacher. He is recognized as the father of Azerbaijani classical music. He composed the music of the Azərbaycan marşı, national anthem of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (which was re-adopted after Azerbaijan regained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991). Hajibeyov also composed the anthem used by Anthem of the Azerbaijan SSR, Azerbaijan during the Soviet period. He was the first composer of an opera in the Islamic world. He composed the first oriental opera ''Leyli and Majnun (opera), Leyli and Majnun'' in 1908 and since then he is revered for adapting the written masterpiece to the theatre. Vilayat Mukhtar oglu Guliyev ( / , ; born 5 November 1952) is an Azerbaijani politician who was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan from 1999 to 2004. He was elected to the Azeri parliament in 1996 as a supporter of President Heydar Aliyev. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs under Aliyev, and for short term under his son, Ilham, from October 1999 until April 2004, when he was replaced by Elmar Mammadyarov. Early life Guliyev was born on November 5, 1952, in a town of Agjabedi, Azerbaijan. Having completed high school, he enrolled at Azerbaijan State University in 1970 and graduated with a degree in Philology in 1975.
