Automotodróm Slovakia Ring is a motor Race track, racing circuit in Orechová Potôň, Dunajská Streda District in Slovakia, approximately away from M. R. Štefánik Airport, Bratislava Airport. It was built between 2008 and 2009. Description New Zealand race car driver Matthew Halliday (racing driver), Matt Halliday suggested that the rear engine Porsches struggled with Slovakia Ring's long radius corners with much less front aerodynamics than the other cars. A major feature of the circuit is a prominent hump on one of the straights that causes some cars to fly with the front wheels off the ground. Only one car has flipped over entirely and crashed after going over the hump at a high speed. Prior to start of the 2014 season the hump between turns 2 and 3 was rebuilt. Orechová Potôň
Orechová Potôň (, ) is a village and municipality in the Dunajská Streda District in the Trnava Region of south-west Slovakia. History In history, historical records the village was first mentioned in 1250. Until the end of World War I, it was part of Hungary and fell within the Dunaszerdahely district of Pozsony County. After the Austro-Hungarian army disintegrated in November 1918, Czechoslovak troops occupied the area. After the Treaty of Trianon of 1920, the village became officially part of Czechoslovakia. In November 1938, the First Vienna Award granted the area to Hungary and it was held by Hungary until 1945. Jaguar R5
The Jaguar R5 was a Formula One racing car used by Jaguar Racing to contest the 2004 Formula One season. The R5 was the last chassis made by Jaguar Racing, before they became Red Bull Racing in . The car was driven by Mark Webber and rookie Christian Klien and its first 2004 Formula One outing was at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona in pre-season testing. Jaguar used an updated R5B chassis for two races. Klien gave the B spec chassis its debut in China and Webber used it in Brazil. The R5B had originally been taken to the Italian Grand Prix but was not used. Webber drove the R5B in Japan during Friday practice, but due to the lack of running have to revert to the old car for the race. Mike Parisy
Mike Parisy (born 8 October 1984 in Pau) is a French racing driver, who formerly competed in the FIA GT1 World Championship. In 2015 he is racing in the Blancpain GT Series for HTP Motorsport in a Bentley Continental. Career After karting, Parisy began racing in single-seaters in French Formula Renault in 2001. In 2004 he won the Formula France title. In 2005 he raced in the Eurocup Mégane Trophy, before switching to the Porsche Carrera Cup France for 2006. He finished fourth in his first season, before finishing fifth, second and fifth again in the subsequent races. In 2008 and 2009 he also raced in the French GT Championship, coming third in the GT3 category in 2008 before winning the class the following year. 2011 FIA GT3 European Championship Season
The 2011 FIA GT3 European Championship season was the sixth season of the FIA GT3 European Championship. The season commenced on May 8 at Algarve and ended on October 16 at Zandvoort. The season featured six double-header rounds, with each race lasting for a duration of 60 minutes. Most of the events were support races to the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship season. Calendar On December 10, 2010, the FIA World Motor Sport Council announced the 2010 calendar in co-ordinance with the FIA GT1 World Championship. On 30 May 2011, the round in Smolensk was dropped from the schedule. On 21 July, a replacement round at the Slovakiaring was announced. Entries 2011 sees a new manufacturer in the series with Mercedes-Benz joining the GT3 grid with their SLS-AMG sports cars. Ferrari have replaced the F430 with the brand new 458 Italia. Matthew Halliday (racing Driver)
Matthew Brent Halliday (born 14 July 1979) is a motor racing driver. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand. Single seater racing Halliday's formula racing career has involved various single seater series in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the United States. Following two seasons in the Formula Holden category contesting the Australian Drivers' Championship in 1999 and 2000, he moved to the United States and ran in both the Indy Lights and Toyota Atlantic series in 2001. In 2002 he moved to the Infiniti Pro Series but was injured after two races. He finished 3rd and 4th in the inaugural A1 Grand Prix races at Brands Hatch in 2005 went on to have a very successful season with A1 Team New Zealand. He ran the first three races of the 2007 Champ Car World Series season for Conquest Racing however his sponsorship ended after three races and he was replaced by Jan Heylen. GP2 Series
The GP2 Series was a form of open wheel motor racing introduced in 2005 following the discontinuation of the long-term Formula One feeder series, Formula 3000. The GP2 format was conceived by Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, while Ecclestone also has the rights to the name GP1. The series was organized by Bruno Michel. In 2010, the GP3 Series class was launched, as a feeder class for the GP2 series. In 2017, the series was rebranded as the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Designed to make racing affordable for the teams and to make it a better training ground for life in Formula One, GP2 made it mandatory for all of the teams to use the same chassis, engine and tyre supplier so that true driver ability is reflected. 2010 EuroBOSS Series
The 2010 EuroBOSS Series season was the tenth year of the EuroBOSS Series. The championship began on 8 August at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, Magny-Cours and was due to finish on 31 October at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portimão, after five double-header rounds. However, the last three race meetings were called off due to the lack of driver entries to the series. This meant the season ended with the Slovakiaring round on 22 August. With two wins and two 2nd places from the four races held, Damien Charveriat won the EuroBOSS class at the wheel of his Zele Racing Dallara GP2/05 that had been formerly run in the GP2 Series. Andreas Zuber, himself a former GP2 racer, was the only other driver to compete in the class, winning both races at the Slovakiaring.
