Hebrew Language
Hebrew (; ; ) is a Northwest Semitic language of the Afroasiatic language family. Historically, it is one of the spoken languages of the Israelites and their longest-surviving descendants, the Jews and Samaritans. It was largely preserved throughout history as the main liturgical language of Judaism (since the Second Temple period) and Samaritanism. Hebrew is the only Canaanite language still spoken today, and serves as the only truly successful example of a dead language that has been revived. Roger Assaf (in Arabic روجيه عساف ; born in 1941) is a Lebanese playwright, director and actor. Biography Assaf was born in Lebanon, son of Joseph Assaf and Rosette Brunas. His father was Lebanese and his mother was French. He studied in Frères School, Furn el Chebbak, then in Frères Jemmayzé. He studied medicine at Université Saint Joseph (USJ) for four years, but left studies to consecrate himself to acting. At age 12, he landed an acting role in a play directed by Henri Khayyat. Mikhayl Assaf (27 October 1887 in Damascus, Syria – 10 August 1970) was the second archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Petra and Philadelphia in Amman. Joseph Assaf (Arabic: جوزيف عساف; born 1944) is a Lebanese-born Australian businessman and founder of the Ethnic Business Awards. Biography Assaf was born in Hardine, a village in the Batroun District, 80 km from Beirut, Lebanon. His first language was Arabic, and he undertook his schooling in French. In 1967, at the age of 22, he migrated to Australia from Lebanon. In 1988, Assaf founded the Ethnic Business Awards. Assaf Yaguri ( he, אסף יגורי, 13 February 1931 – 18 March 2000) was an Israeli soldier and politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Democratic Movement for Change and Ya'ad between 1977 and 1981. Biography Born in Yagur during the Mandate era, Yaguri was a member of the central committee of the HaNoar HaOved youth movement, and was also a member of the Kibbutz HaMeuhad youth section.
