Asquith is a suburb in Sydney's Northern Sydney, Northern Suburbs in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Asquith is located 26 km north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the Local government in Australia, local government area of Hornsby Shire. The suburb contains a section of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park on its eastern side. History Asquith was named in 1915 after the then prime minister of the United Kingdom, H. H. Asquith. Asquith railway station opened on 1 November 1915, in conjunction with land released by R. Halloran & Company. 2019–20 Australian Bushfire Season
The 201920 Australian bushfire season commenced with serious uncontrolled fires in June 2019. , fires this season have burned an estimated , destroyed over 5,900 buildings (including 2,779 homes) and killed at least 34 people. An estimated one billion animals were killed and some endangered species may be driven to extinction. Air quality has dropped to hazardous levels. The cost of dealing with the bushfires is expected to exceed the $4.4 billion of the 2009 Black Saturday fires, and tourism sector revenues have fallen more than $1 billion. By 7 January 2020, the smoke had moved approximately across the South Pacific Ocean to Chile and Argentina. As of 2 January 2020, NASA estimated that of CO had been emitted. CDC NSW is a bus operator in New South Wales, Australia. It is an umbrella brand of ComfortDelGro Australia established in 2017 to cover the latter's New South Wales operations, some of which had been owned by ComfortDelGro since 2005. It was subsequently established as a legal entity (company) in 2019. Beginning from 2023, its Hillsbus, Forest Coach Lines (Sydney only) and Blanch's Bus Company brands were phased out in favour of the CDC NSW brand.
