Arūnas Gelažninkas
Arūnas Gelažninkas (born 12 October 1985) is a Lithuanians, Lithuanian motocross, enduro and rally raid rider. Gelažninkas is best known for being a multiple Lithuanian enduro and cross-country champion, 2019 Tuareg Rally champion as well winning 2021 Dakar Rally in Original by Motul category (formerly known as Malle Moto), making him the first and only Lithuanian to do so. Biography A. Gelažninkas started his career in motocross when he was eight and was competing domestically initially. In 2005 Gelažninkas started training in United Kingdom and competing in British Motocross Championship. In addition to competing locally Gelažninkas has also participated in various events internationally, including representing Lithuania in Motocross des Nations, Motocross of Nations, also competing in MX1, MX3 FIM Motocross World Championship as well as participating in Dakar Rally annually since 2019. 2020 Dakar Rally
The 2020 Dakar Rally was the 42nd edition of the event and the first edition held in Saudi Arabia. The event started in Jeddah on 5 January and finished in Al-Qiddiya on 17 January after 12 stages of the competition. This was also the first event under the direction of David Castera, who replaced Etienne Lavigne when he stepped down from the role in March 2019 after 15 years in charge. Spaniard Carlos Sainz won his fourth Dakar (counting the 2008 Central Europe Rally, which legally was that year's Dakar) with a third different make, his first with the new Mini JCW X-Raid buggy. In the motorcycle class, American Ricky Brabec became the first person from North America to win any class in the Dakar Rally. Enduro is a form of motorcycle sport run on extended cross-country, off-road courses. Enduro consists of many different obstacles and challenges. The main type of enduro event, and the format to which the World Enduro Championship is run, is a time-card enduro, whereby a number of stages are raced in a time trial against the clock. Time-keeping enduros In a traditional time-keeping enduro, riders leave together in groups or rows, and each row starts at a certain minute. The object of the event is to arrive at pre-defined checkpoints according to a strict schedule. Early or late arrivals result in the riders' scores being penalized. The 2025 Dakar Rally is a rally raid event that took place in Saudi Arabia. It is the 47th edition of the Dakar Rally, organized by Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), and the 6th time Saudi Arabia has hosted the event. The event took place from 3 to 17 January 2025. For the fourth year running, the event will also be the first round of the 2025 World Rally-Raid Championship. Background The grand presentation and the outline of the race route took place on 18 May 2024 in Les Comes, targeting French and Spanish audience. The promo tour continued to South Africa, Italy, Mexico / USA, Argentina, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. The Canadian-American Challenge Cup, or Can-Am, was an SCCA/ CASC sports car racing series from 1966 to 1974, and again from 1977 to 1987. The Can-Am rules were deliberately simple and placed few limits on the entries. This led to a wide variety of unique car body designs and powerful engine installations. Notable among these were Jim Hall's Chaparrals and entries with over 1,000 horsepower. The 2024 Dakar Rally was a rally raid event held in Saudi Arabia. It was the 46th edition of the Dakar Rally, organized by Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), and the 5th time Saudi Arabia has hosted the event. The event took place between 5 and 19 January 2024. For the third year running, the event was also the first round of the 2024 World Rally-Raid Championship. The outline of the race route was presented on 3 June 2023. This year the route started at Al-'Ula, then across the Empty Quarter, and finished in Yanbu. The race format consisted of a prologue and 12 stages, including a 48-hour marathon stage - dubbed as a '48h chrono stage', which covered over 600km with a midnight halt.
