The 2007 Armenian Premier League season is the sixteenth since its establishment, and started on 14 April 2007. The last matches were played on 10 November 2007. Armenian Premier League
The Armenian Premier League ( hy, VBET Հայաստանի Պրեմիեր Լիգա, known as the VBET Armenian Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the top football competition in Armenia. From 1936 to 1991, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the USSR. After independence, the Football Federation of Armenia has been the unit in charge. Over the years, the league has evolved into a small league consisting of ten teams. The winner of the league is awarded a spot in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Mika Stadium
Mika Stadium ( hy, Միկա Մարզադաշտ), is a football stadium in Yerevan, Armenia, built between 2006–2007 and opened in 2008. The capacity of the stadium is 7,000 and serves as the home ground of FC Mika. History The construction of the stadium started in 2006 on the location of the former Araks Stadium. It was completed in 2008 and hosted the first ever match on 22 May of the same year between the U-19 national teams of Spain and Ukraine. The match ended-up with a 3–1 victory for the Spaniards. The first ever goal in Mika Stadium was scored by the Ukraine U-19 player Andriy Yarmolenko with a penalty kick at the 18th minute of the match. FC Mika played their first game in the stadium on 8 June 2008 against Kilikia FC. Mika won the match 1–0 with Stepan Hakobyan becoming the first ever goalscorer of the club at their new stadium, when he scored the winning goal at the 81st minute of the match. Levon Pachajyan ( hy, Լեւոն Պաչաջյան; born 20 September 1983, in Yerevan, Soviet Union) is an Armenian football midfielder. He last played for the Swedish club Linköping City. He is a former member of the Armenia national team. Levon was voted as best Armenian footballer of 2007 season. Gevorg Ghazaryan
Gevorg Ghazaryan ( hy, Գևորգ Ղազարյան; born 5 April 1988) is an Armenian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or forward for the Armenia national team. Ghazaryan has participated in 73 international matches, scoring 14 goals since his debut on 14 January 2007. He previously played for Greek Super League clubs Olympiacos and Kerkyra, and earlier for Pyunik. Club career Pyunik In the 2004 Armenian Premier League season, Ghazaryan played for the youth team FC Pyunik, performing in the First League. For the next season, he debuted in the senior first team. Henrikh Mkhitaryan ( hy, Հենրիխ Մխիթարյան, ; born 21 January 1989) is an Armenian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for club Inter Milan. Mkhitaryan won four Armenian Premier League titles with Pyunik, and joined Metalurh Donetsk in 2009; he moved to city rivals Shakhtar Donetsk in 2010 for €6.1 million. At Shakhtar, Mkhitaryan set the league goalscoring record in the 2012–13 season, and was named the league's Footballer of the Year. Marcos Pinheiro Pizzelli (; hy, Մարկոս Պինեյրո Պիզզելլի; born 3 October 1984), commonly known as Marcos, is a former professional footballer. Born in Brazil, Marcos represented Armenia internationally between 2008 and 2019. Club career Ararat Yerevan Pizzelli started his career at the Brazilian club São Carlos as a youth from 2000 to 2005. In 2006, the young talent was spotted by an agent from Ararat Yerevan, who soon recruited Pizzelli. His debut took place on 30 April in a game against Ulisses. Football Club Gandzasar Kapan ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Գանձասար Կապան), commonly known as Gandzasar, is an Armenian football club based in the town of Kapan, Syunik Province. Translated from the Armenian, "Gandz-a-sar" simply means "Treasure Mountain". The club headquarters are located on Shinararner street 1, Kapan. 2008 Armenian Cup
The 2008 Armenian Cup was the 17th edition of the Armenian Cup, a football competition. In 2008, the tournament had 14 participants, out of which 6 were reserve teams. Summary Banants and Ararat got a pass on the 1st round because these two clubs reached the final the previous year. The first round passed without any surprises, as the reserve teams were expected to be knocked out. The quarter finals, however, turned out to be very interesting. Two of the matches had to be decided on penalties. Gandzasar put up quite a fight against defending Armenian Premier League champions Pyunik, and even managed to outplay the champions in various aspects of the game. Shirak also demonstrated a fighting spirit and managed to defeat defending cup holders Banants away, after losing the first leg at home. 2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup
The 2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup was the last UEFA Intertoto Cup football tournament, the 14th to be organised by UEFA and the third since the competition's format was given a major overhaul. Fifty teams were invited, with the eleven winners after the third round then advancing to the second qualifying round of the 2008–09 UEFA Cup. 2008–09 UEFA Cup
The 2008–09 UEFA Cup was the 38th season of the UEFA Cup football tournament. The final was played at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, home ground of Fenerbahçe, in Istanbul on 20 May 2009. This season was the final one to use the UEFA Cup format; starting in 2009, the competition was known as the UEFA Europa League.
