António Borges Coutinho
António Borges Coutinho Order of Liberty, GOL (3 May 1923 in Lisbon – 3 February 2011 in Lisbon) was a Portuguese lawyer and politician. Biography António Eduardo Borges Coutinho de Medeiros was born in Lisbon on 3 May 1923, the second son of the third Marquis of Praia e Monforte. He was the youngest brother of Duarte Borges Coutinho, who was president of sports club S.L. Benfica. He obtain his degree in Law, from the Faculty of Law, at the University of Coimbra in 1948, but was not associated with the Democratic Opposition during his university career. Career In 1950, he settled in São Miguel Island, São Miguel, becoming an intern with lawyer Carlos Bettencourt. His political indoctrination and ideology was influenced by the socialist António Sérgio and theories of Agostinho da Silva. Ponta Delgada (district)
The District of Ponta Delgada was a district of the ''Ilhas Adjacentes'' (the former collective name for the Azores and Madeira), consisting of the dependent eastern islands of the Azores, located in the Atlantic Ocean. The district of Ponta Delgada, not to be confused with the modern municipality of Ponta Delgada, existed from 1835 until 1976 when it was abolished in the favour of the autonomy charter of the 1975 Portuguese Constitution. History By decree, on 18 July 1835, Mouzinho da Silveira established the districts of the ''Ilhas Adjacentes'' as part of his administrative reforms of local government. The provinces were extinguished, and the administrative and fiscal districts were created that included the eastern and western groups of islands: centred on Angra do Heroísmo and Ponta Delgada. Altino Amadeu Pinto de Magalhães ; 8 May 1922 – 24 January 2019) was a Portuguese commissioned army officer in the Portuguese Armed Forces and politician who served as a deputy Minister of Defence. He was the President of the Junta Regional of the Azores.
