''Istanbul Tales'' () is a 2005 Turkish drama-anthology film, directed by Selim Demirdelen, Kudret Sabancı, Ümit Ünal, Yücel Yolcu and Ömür Atay, which tells five interconnected stories set in modern-day Istanbul based on the fairytales ''Snow White'', ''Cinderella'', ''Pied Piper'', ''Sleeping Beauty'' and ''Little Red Riding Hood''. The film, which went on nationwide general release on 11 March 2005, won several awards including Best Film at the 24th International Istanbul Film Festival. Awards The film won the Best Film of the Year and Best Actress ( Yelda Reynaud) awards at the 2005 Istanbul International Film Festival, Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Bangkok International Film Festival and Jury Prize of "Artistic Expression" (Original Idea) at the 2005 MedFilm Festival in Rome. Ümit Ünal
Ümit Ünal (born 14 April 1965 in Tire, İzmir) is a Turkish film director, screenwriter and author. He is the scriptwriter for eight Turkish feature films including ''Teyzem (My Aunt)'' (1986), ''Hayallerim, Askim ve Sen (My Dreams, My Love and You)'' (1987). His first feature film as a director is '' 9'' which won many awards in various film festivals and was the Official Turkish Entry for the 2003 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He wrote and directed ten feature films including Istanbul Tales (Anlat İstanbul), Ara, Gölgesizler (Shadowless), Ses (The Voice), Nar (The Pomegranate), Serial Cook (Sofra Sırları), Love, Spells and All That (Aşk, Büyü vs) and Playroom (Evcilik). He has published five books. As an artist/illustrator his credits include two personal exhibitions and four illustrated books. Mehmet Günsür
Mehmet Günsür (; born 8 May 1975) is a Turkish model, actor and producer. Early life Günsür was born in 1975 as the second child of a family of Tatar descent (a Turkic ethnic subgroup). His mother, Sibel, was a lecturer and his father, Teoman, was an industrial engineer who graduated from the Middle East Technical University and worked in a number of different sectors. His older sister Zeynep Günsür Yüceil, who is a choreographer of modern ballet, is also a lecturer. Career He began his acting career at the age of seven in various commercials.
