An Phú District
An Phú is a Districts of Vietnam, district of An Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam and shares the international border with Cambodia. An Phú juts out at the western edge of Vietnam into Cambodia. As of 2019, the district had a population of 148,615. The district covers an area of 226 km2. The district capital lies at An Phú (township), An Phú town. History The district is one of the most remote places in Vietnam. An Phú was a part of the Tầm Phong Long region that had links with former Kingdom of Funan, Funan kingdom and was given to the Nguyễn lords in 1757 by Chenla Kingdom, Chenla king Outey II. Phú Tân District, An Giang Province
Phú Tân is a rural district (''huyện'') of An Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. As of 2019 the district had a population of 188,951. The district covers an area of 307 km². The district capital lies at Phú Mỹ. Phú Tân is the homeland of the Hòa Hảo Buddhism religion. Geography The terrain is flat and the elevation is between 1 and 2 m. The population is mainly ethnic Vietnamese (98%) with Khmer people, some Cham and Hoa Chinese. It is bordered to the north by Tân Châu, the west by Châu Đốc and Châu Phú district, the southeast by Chợ Mới, and the east by Đồng Tháp province. Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge is the name that was popularly given to members of the Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK), and by extension to Democratic Kampuchea, which ruled Cambodia between 1975 and 1979. The name was coined in the 1960s by Norodom Sihanouk to describe his country's heterogeneous, communist-led dissidents, with whom he allied after the 1970 Cambodian coup d'état. Hòa Hảo
Hòa Hảo is a Vietnamese new religious movement. It is described either as a Syncretism, syncretistic Vietnamese folk religion, folk religion or as a sect of Buddhism. It was founded in French Cochinchina, Cochinchina in 1939 by Huỳnh Phú Sổ (1920–47), who is regarded as a saint by its devotees. It is one of the major religions of Vietnam with between one million and eight million adherents, mostly in the Mekong Delta. The religious philosophy of Hòa Hảo, which rose from the Miền Tây region of the Mekong Delta, is essentially Buddhist.
