Amy Chan (badminton)
Amy Chan MBE ( zh, j=, t=陳念慈; also known as Chan Lim-chee; born 27 June 1961) is a retired badminton player from Hong Kong who won gold medals in World Championships and Commonwealth Games. About Chan grew up with two brothers and a sister named Chen Aici in the East Block of North Point New Village on Hong Kong Island during her early years. Her father worked as a clerk. She completed her education at Ho Tung Government Industrial Girls' High School (now known as Ho Tung Middle School) in 1980, followed by enrollment at Luo Phu Quoc Education College, where she finished her physical education course in 1983. Subsequently, she graduated from the Department of Physical Education at Springfield University in 1991. Chan achieved notable success in badminton, winning the women's singles championship in nine Hong Kong tournaments between 1975 and 1983. Claire Backhouse-Sharpe
Claire Backhouse-Sharpe ( Backhouse; born May 13, 1958) is a Canadian badminton player and coach. Between 1978 and 1994, she competed in five editions of the Commonwealth Games for Canada, winning a single gold medal and five silver medals. Backhouse-Sharpe also participated in the World Badminton Championships and Uber Cup on five occasions each as part of the Canada national badminton team. She won multiple national and regional titles and was assistant coach and manager of the British Columbia Badminton team at the 1994 Canada Winter Games and the 1995 Western Canada Games. Backhouse-Sharpe was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Badminton Canada Hall of Fame. Park Joo-bong
Park Joo-bong (; born 5 December 1964) is a South Korean former badminton player who excelled from the early 1980s through the mid-1990s. He was a member of South Korean national team from 1981 to 1996. He won a gold medal in the men's doubles at the 1992 Olympics, three-times World mixed doubles champion, two-times World men's doubles champion, and a silver medal in the mixed doubles at the 1996 Olympics. Career Park began his badminton career at the age of 11 encouraged by his father, Park Myung-soo. He was selected to join the South Korean national team in 1981. Sara Sankey (née Halsall, born 29 September 1967) is a retired English badminton player. Badminton career In 1990, Sankey represented England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, England when she attended the Badminton at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, Commonwealth Games where she won gold medals in the mixed team event and with Fiona Smith (badminton), Fiona Smith in the women's doubles event. She also won a silver medal with Miles Johnson in the mixed doubles. Mya Lay Sein ( Burmese: ; born 1954) is a Burmese physiologist, former badminton player and Deputy Minister for Health and Sports for Myanmar from 2018 to 2021.
